Today begins our countdown towards the release of the Chaos and Consequences anthology! And our first story in the anthology is a fantastic piece by author @melissaolthoff! Bio: Melissa writes science fiction and fantasy adventure romance with plenty of banter and heart. She is a lifelong geek as well as a veteran of the United States Air Force, both of which are incredibly useful when writing. Her degrees in meteorology and accounting are slightly less applicable to writing, but absolutely useful when it comes to supporting her family. She has written in both shared worlds and her own universes, and through the power of caffeine and friendship, manages to juggle chaos on and off the page. Published by Baen Books, she is best known for her Griffin Corps series and Bronze Legion novels. Her story, 'More Than Survival,' can be previewed below: *** The world was ending. Captain Jace Benning had spent years fighting for his country, but he couldn’t stop the end of the world any more than he could stop the sun from rising. All he could do was try to survive the shattering. Jace put one foot in front of the other and swept his gaze across the ragtag band of survivors he’d gathered during his insane trek across the Sonoran Desert. Grim resolve flowed through his exhausted soul. As tired as he was, there was never any question as to whether he would keep going. Long past the point where the first bombs had fallen on American soil, long past the point where he lost contact with his chain of command. He would keep going, because if he couldn’t save his country, he could save his soldiers. They were his responsibility now, even if they hadn’t started out that way. *** You can get your ebook copy next Tuesday everywhere ebooks are sold, and your print copy Nov 10. simonandschuster.com/books/C…

For those of you wondering about the (slightly) delayed release for the Chaos and Consequences anthology, I've heard that it was only bumped back one week (November 10). That just gives you more time to preorder it, I guess. amazon.com/dp/1668073552

The electronic Advance Reader Copy of my fourth anthology edited, Chaos and Consequences, is available! Officially coming out in November, @BaenBooks offers it for sale now for those who cannot wait. This one has stories from authors such as @MelissaOlthoff, @SarahAHoyt, @PatrickChiles, @thewriterike, @KB_Carlisle, @JoellePresby @steverson_nick, @holowriting, and the trio of @Marisa_comeaux, David Shadoin, & @hy_gregor. * * * The anthology idea was simple. Take the cover, and give me two elements from it in a story involving the alien or monster. All nine stories (Marisa, David, and H. Y. teamed up for theirs) include some elements of Kurt Miller's cover art. I think you're going it. baen.com/chaos-and-consequen…
