One tree. Nine seedlings. A legacy that changed an economy. In 1877, nine rubber seedlings from Kew Gardens were planted in Kuala Kangsar, marking a milestone in Malaya’s rubber industry. One of the earliest trees still stands today near the District and Land Office.
