Your patient with type 2 diabetes has MASLD. How active is their liver disease?
LiverMultiScan is software as a medical device that analyses MRI to give a non-invasive, non-contrast assessment of liver health. It is safe and pain-free.
It reports three quantified metrics, for interpretation by trained healthcare professionals:
cT1 (iron-corrected T1), a measure of liver disease activity. The upper limit of normal is 800 ms; values above this threshold indicate increasing levels of liver disease activity.
PDFF (Proton Density Fat Fraction), the liver fat fraction. The upper limit of normal is 5%; values above this threshold indicate hepatic steatosis of increasing severity.
Liver iron concentration (LIC). The upper limit of normal is 1.8 mg Fe/g of dry liver tissue; values above this threshold indicate hepatic iron overload of increasing severity.
LiverMultiScan supports clinical decisions across diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and patient management.
How are you assessing liver disease activity in your patients with type 2 diabetes today?

In a GCP trial, who owns computerised system validation: QA or IT?
Computerised systems play a critical role in participant safety and data integrity, yet uncertainty often arises at the interface between GCP Quality Assurance and IT functions.
At the 8th Global QA Conference in London, Max Feltham, Quality Assurance Lead at Perspectum, and Barry McManus, Consultancy Partner at Empowerment Quality Engineering, will tackle that question in "When Harry Met Sally: Practical Collaboration Between GCP QA and IT in Computerised System Validation".
They will unpick the most common misunderstandings in computerised system validation, then set out a structured, risk-based approach to assessing validation documentation, governance, and roles and responsibilities. Delegates will leave with practical insight and more confidence to navigate validation in GCP environments, work more closely with IT, and support compliant system lifecycle management.
Join them on Friday 6 November at 11:45 GMT on the Metropolitan IT Line, Novotel London West.

New publication from the RADIcAL 1 study: people with MASH report a lower quality of life, and the drop tracks with liver disease activity.
Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is often described as silent. This study, published in Quality of Life Research (Springer Nature), asked 802 participants with suspected MASLD how they actually feel, using the EQ-5D questionnaire, and compared the answers with imaging results.
What the results showed:
Participants with MASH reported lower quality of life across every EQ-5D domain and on the EQ-VAS than those with MASLD alone.
People with high-risk MASH reported up to 12% more problems, with the largest gaps in usual activities and mobility.
Each 80 ms rise in cT1 was linked to 29% higher odds of reporting anxiety or depression and a 0.023 point fall in EQ-5D index score.
Why it matters: a disease that rarely causes symptoms can still weigh on everyday life, and imaging biomarkers may help identify the patients carrying the greatest burden.
Led by Elizabeth Shumbayawonda and Marika Hancock with the RADIcAL 1 collaborators. Thank you to the full author team.

We're heading to @AASLDtweets The Liver Meeting 2026 in Denver, November 5 to 9.
Eleven members of the Perspectum team will be at #TLM26, presenting five posters and one oral presentation. You'll find us at booth #1055.
For clinicians: see how LiverMultiScan supports non-invasive liver health assessment, with quantified metrics for liver disease activity (cT1), liver fat fraction (PDFF) and liver iron concentration to inform clinical decisions across diagnosis, treatment and monitoring.
For pharma and clinical development teams: talk to us about quantitative liver imaging biomarkers in liver disease trials, from screening and enrichment through to measuring change over time.
To book time with the team at the booth, email Pharma.Business[email protected].
We'll share more on what we're presenting in the coming weeks.

Cardiovascular, kidney, liver and metabolic disease rarely develop in isolation. So how do you design a single trial that captures endpoints across all of them?
That question sits at the heart of MOSAIC 2026, the multi-specialty trialists' forum on cardio-kidney-liver-metabolic (CKLM) disease.
Perspectum is a proud sponsor of this year's meeting, and our team will be in the room.
On Monday, October 26, Andrea Dennis, SVP Translational Science, speaks in the session "How to design a single trial with multiple CKLM endpoints? Methodology and statistical toolkits."
Multi-organ imaging. The UK Imaging Diabetes Study
4:00–4:10 pm ET
Andrea will be joined by Carlos Duncker, Senior Medical Director. If you're attending, they'd welcome a conversation on endpoints, imaging and trial design.
For those designing CKLM trials: which endpoint is hardest to align across specialties?

Metabolic disease rarely affects only one organ. So how do you capture a therapy's effects beyond its target organ in trial design?
Thursday 15 October, #ELRIGDD26: Anna Veprik presents how multi-organ MR imaging can be used as a precision biomarker in drug discovery.

Heading to #ACG2026 in Nashville, Oct 9–14? Thuy Nguyen, VP US Medical Affairs and Prashant Pandya, Medical Director, are there all week to talk quantitative MRI in liver disease.
Best Poster at the 12th Paris MASH Meeting went to our digital pathology team. Congratulations to lead author Dylan Windell and everyone behind the work!
MASH is a form of steatotic liver disease, where fat build-up comes with inflammation and liver damage. Trials of new MASH treatments depend on pathologists scoring liver biopsy slides. So the team asked a simple question: do AI measurements agree with what the experts see?
In biopsy slides from 156 people with MASLD or MASH, PAIR™ MASH measurements agreed with scores from two expert pathologists: fibrosis (scarring, rho 0.78), fat (rho 0.67), ballooning (rho 0.62) and inflammation (rho 0.41).
Many people know us for imaging. Fewer know we also have a experienced pathology team that provides central histology reads for over 10 active phase 2 and 3 clinical trials.
There's more to come at The Liver Meeting in November.

Cardiovascular disease rarely occurs on its own.
It develops alongside the conditions that influence it: type 2 diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, and liver fat that accumulates silently for years.
That is why cardiovascular risk is increasingly understood as cardiometabolic risk. People living with MASLD (metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease), for example, carry a higher risk of cardiovascular disease.
The information that matters for the heart may not always be found in the heart alone.
This World Heart Day, look at the whole system, not one organ.
At Perspectum, we build quantitative imaging technology for exactly this: a whole-system view of cardiometabolic health.

The fat your BMI does not show.
In 75,331 UK Biobank participants, people with more visceral fat on MRI were more likely to develop type 2 diabetes, independent of BMI. A single L3 slice showed a similar association to the whole-abdomen measurement.
Presented at EASD 2026, Tue 30 Sep, 11:45 CEST.
Heading to GHAPP in Chula Vista, 1 to 3 October? So are we. Perspectum is a Bronze Sponsor, and Dr Prashant Pandya and Jill Rizer will be there all three days. NPs and PAs in GI or hepatology: come and talk MRI-based liver assessment. #Perspectum #GHAPP2026
Two patients can lose the same amount of weight and end up in very different physiological states. One loses visceral and ectopic fat. The other loses skeletal muscle.
We integrate MRI body composition into obesity and cardiometabolic trials to characterise the quality of weight loss.
Meet us at EASD 2026, Milan, 28 Sept to 2 Oct.
