We are proud to recognize and honour the rich culture and traditions of all Nunavummiut. On this longest day of the year, celebrations were held across the country, for the Summer Solstice, and National Indigenous Peoples Day. It’s a time to celebrate both the changing season, and the significant contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Metis. We would like to thank Baffinland’s full-time Inuit artist, Jamesie Itulu, who created this illustration, depicting two Inuit in traditional clothes, drumming and dancing under the warmth of the shining sun. Our success is built on the knowledge and experience of our Inuit employees, contractors and other partners. Please join us in wishing everyone a Happy National Indigenous Peoples Day! ᖁᕕᐊᓱᑦᑎᐊᖅᑐᒍᑦ ᐃᓕᓴᖅᓯᔪᒪᓪᓗᑕ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐅᐱᒍᓱᑦᑎᐊᖅᖢᑕ ᐱᐅᑦᑎᐊᖅᑐᒥᑦ ᐱᖅᑯᓯᕐᓂᒃ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐃᓕᖅᑯᓯᖏᓐᓂᒃ ᓄᓇᕗᒻᒥᐅᓕᒫᑦ. ᐅᓪᓗᑯᑖᖑᓂᖅᐸᒥ ᐊᕐᕌᒍᒋᔭᑦᑎᓐᓂ, ᖁᕕᓱᖃᑎᒌᖕᓂᖅᑕᖃᐅᓚᐅᖅᑐᑦ ᑲᓇᑕᓗᒃᑖᒥ, ᐊᐅᔭᐅᔪᒥ ᓯᕿᓂᖅ, ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᑲᓇᑕᒥ ᓄᓇᖃᖅᑳᓯᒪᔪᑦ ᐃᓄᐃᑦ ᐅᓪᓗᖓᓂ. ᖁᕕᐊᓲᑎᖃᕐᕕᐅᕗᖅ ᑕᒪᐃᓐᓄᑦ ᐊᓯᔾᔨᖅᐸᓪᓕᐊᓕᖅᑎᓪᓗᒍ, ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐱᒻᒪᕆᐅᓪᓗᓂ ᐃᑲᔫᑕᐅᔪᖅ ᓄᓇᖃᖅᑳᖅᓯᒪᔪᓄᑦ, ᐃᓄᖕᓄᑦ, ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐊᓪᓚᖓᔪᓄᑦ. ᖁᔭᒋᔪᒪᔭᕗᑦ ᐹᕙᓐᓛᓐᑯᑦ ᐃᖅᑲᓇᐃᔭᖅᑎᖓ ᐃᓄᒃ ᑎᑎᕋᐅᔭᖅᑎ, ᔭᐃᒥᓯ ᐃᑐᓗ, ᑎᑎᕋᐅᔭᓚᐅᖅᑐᖅ, ᓴᖅᑭᔮᖅᑎᑦᑎᔪᖅ ᒪᕐᕉᖕᓂᒃ ᐃᓄᖕᓂᒃ ᐃᓕᖅᑯᓯᕐᒥᒍᑦ ᐊᓐᓄᕌᖅᓯᒪᓪᓗᑎᒃ, ᕿᓚᐅᔾᔭᖅᖢᑎᒃ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᒧᒥᖅᑑᒃ ᓯᕿᓐᓂᑦᑎᐊᑦᑎᓪᓗᒍ. ᐱᓕᕆᑦᑎᐊᕐᓂᕗᑦ ᐋᖅᑭᒃᓯᒪᓂᓕᒃ ᖃᐅᔨᒪᓂᐅᔪᓂᒃ ᐊᑐᖅᑕᐅᓯᒪᓂᑯᓂᒡᓗ ᐃᓄᖕᓂᒃ ᐃᖅᑲᓇᐃᔭᖅᑎᑦᑎᓐᓂᒃ, ᑳᓐᑐᕌᒃᑎᓂᑦ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᐊᓯᖏᓐᓂᒃ ᐱᓕᕆᖃᑎᒋᔭᑦᑎᓐᓂ. ᐃᓚᐅᓛᖅᐳᑎᑦ ᖁᕕᐊᓱᖁᔨᑎᓪᓗᑕ ᑲᓇᑕᒥ ᓄᓇᖃᖅᑳᖅᓯᒪᔪᑦ ᐃᓄᐃᑦ ᐅᓪᓗᖓᓂ! #NIPD2023

Baffinland welcomes any measures that both protect marine life and and balance the needs of the local community as a whole – we continue to encourage @Oceans_North, the Association of Arctic Expedition Cruise Operators, @ArcticCruiseOp, and the 34 Cruise Ships approved to travel to Pond Inlet this summer, to support our industry-leading, voluntary marine mitigation measures for the region: • Speeds no faster than 9 knots • Use of Convoys • Fixed Routes • Avoiding Restricted Areas • Publicly Available Compliance Monitoring (Real-Time) • Use of Modern Vessels • Suspension of Ice-Breaking in the Spring • Strict Traffic Management Controls – No Drifting • Ballast Water Treatment and Exchange • Restrictions on the Use of Scrubbers @Qikiqtani_Inuit @GOVofNUNAVUT @LoriIdlout @stbstvdan @Transport_gc @Greenpeace
