It is entirely possible Russell Brand did all the things he has been convicted of and that he is also now a child of God having given his life to Jesus. Salvation and natural justice are not the same thing. Salvation does not negate justice. It is not my place to judge the sincerity of his profession of faith in Jesus, but to pray for him for Jesus to be near him as he faces the consequences for the things he has done and for him to conduct deep soul searching and repentance. I have read so much already (some by Christians) about how he just used Christianity to attempt to evade justice, his faith is not real, etc etc. it’s wrong to question his heart in this way, just stop it. Brand’s conviction today is justice in action, but it also raises many questions to the absolute moral degeneracy at the heart of much of the entertainment industry and indeed throughout our society. Every single one of us has fallen short of God’s standards. We have all mucked up. We’ve all made mistakes. We’ve all done things that deliberately go against how we were created to be. The difference with Russell Brand is that he has publicly repented for his actions and lifestyle. Have you owned up to all the wrongs you have done and repented of them? You might have not done things apparently as bad as Brand did, but without repentance you are heading to the same place Brand was heading to before he turned to Jesus - Hell. So, before you start throwing stones around, why not take a minute to examine the condition of your own heart and if you find something rotten, then repent and ask Jesus to forgive you and place your trust in him. He will forgive you, give you a new heart and offer you the gift of new and everlasting life.
