This is WN 48 MKB Longues-sur-Mer, Normandy and the M262 bunker for Fire Control. I haven't been here in years & the entrance to the M262 has been fenced off for a long time, but as luck would have it the fence was under repair & I was able to have an exquisite visit inside #WW2

Merlin’s Over Malta Day 🇬🇧🇲🇹
#OTD At 6pm, 21 Years ago Hawker Hurricane G-HURI & Supermarine Spitfire BM597 arrived over the fortress islands of Malta G.C.🇲🇹
It was the culmination of a relentless fund raising effort by a small team of volunteers to create this historic moment. A Hurricane & Spitfire had not been seen or heard in Maltese skies together since the Second World War.
The trip marked 60 years since the end of the Second World War.
Members of that team went onto found the Polish Heritage Flight in 2019. 🇬🇧🇵🇱🇲🇹

This is Site V1 Nr 161 Poteau de Montauban in the Forêt d’Eu, Normandy. Operational in winter 1943–1944 & was among the sites that fired in the first V1 salvo against London the night of 12–13 June 1944. A misty morning in the forest really added depth to this amazing location 🧵
