Atlanta and Houston talking about getting NHL expansion teams while Quebec City cries itself to sleep
Every time it's reinforced that Patrik Laine is not an NHLer I just think of this interview from his draft. Some day soon someone will write the funniest doc youve ever seen about how this dude's career flopped
Not the biggest, but do Panthers oomfs remember when my Viktor E. Ratt posts led Stanley C. Panther to have multiple public outbursts that I refuse to believe were wholly unrelated to his later full-on breakdown where he stole the suit and Stanley disappeared for like a month?
27 YEARS of bad trades and signings
Don Waddell Major Acquisitions in past 12 months:
Marchment (Not re-signed)
Garland (27-5-2-7) (UFA 2032)
Nichushkin (6-1-2-3) (UFA 2030)
Knies (6-2-2-4) (UFA 2031)
We are not talking enough about how Waddell has screwed this teams future. #CBJ

The Friedkin Group is slated to present their expansion plan in Dec. (end of the six-month process), this doesn’t mean a formal vote WILL 100% take place in Dec., but historically that is the BOG meeting where expansion votes frequently occur.

Very funny that none of this was allowed to be said until he was a week away from retirement.
His "Putin Team" thing was literally a decade ago! You all let him do this over and over again!
From @TheAthletic: There is an ugly stain on Alex Ovechkin's legacy, our columnist writes. His public, persistent support of Vladimir Putin. The NHL's all-time leading goal scorer's "explanations have been absolutely shallow and borderline dismissive."

Another Don Waddell management masterclass
Adam Fantilli has now missed FOUR straight days of Blue Jackets training camp 👀
The 21-year-old remains without a contract, and a deal doesn’t appear imminent, per @Aportzline 😬
He’s coming off a 24-goal, career-high 59-point season.
Guys help me out is it good when you have to drop quotes like this about your franchise after just 5 seasons?
Matty Beniers on Robertson's rejection to come to Seattle: “There’s a tough rep about Seattle because it’s rainy, and maybe the city. But guys love it in Seattle — the guys that are there. When the sun’s out, it’s beautiful. There’s so much nature; there are a lot of things to do. So yeah, it obviously doesn’t feel good when you’re on a team and you try to get someone else and they don’t want to come. But at the same time, if you don’t want to be here, we don’t want you, anyway.” per Mark Lazerus #SeaKraken #TexasHockey #NHL

Interesting news with expansion here. Interesting to see that Anson Carter is no longer part of Alpharetta. I’m curious what those circumstances were.
NHL expansion update:
- 3rd ownership group emerges in Atlanta
- In talks with two groups in Phoenix
- Expansion to Texas not a "done deal?"
My story from the player media tour in Vegas.

If I'm him I'm spending the last of my NHL money hunting down the agent who fumbled that 8 year deal with Dallas until he's dead or too scared to live.
Winnipeg is on its last legs. Toronto will get a second team before Quebec has one. Kansas City has been completely forgotten. Colby Armstrong's cheeks eat more of his face every year. As Atlanta rises, its enemies fall.

2029
BREAKING: In an email released to a nearby community, the development team behind The Gathering at South Forsyth revealed they have secured financing for an NHL team and submitted a final packet for approval.
Developers also revealed that the first phase of construction is underway as of September 1st, 2026. A local contractor will grade and level the site through January 31st, 2027. Construction on the arena and adjacent buildings will start once leveling of the site is complete and will take an estimated 27 months. The entire site will be phased out over 7-10 years.
Based on an estimated completion of May 1st, 2029, a team could potentially be ready to play in the 2029/30 season. One important thing of note here is that according to an MOU with Forsyth County, an arena could not be built in phase one without NHL approval. While it has not been confirmed by the league that a team is being awarded, this is the most concrete information we’ve seen thus far.
We won. A reminder that Atlanta is not garbage, fake, undeserving, or whatever these Winnipeg freaks threw at you. You love hockey and want what’s best for everyone. Be proud of that.
