Universal Basic Income is an alternative to low interest rates. It pushes money into the economy by spending rather than lending.

Let's dispel a myth: Universal Basic Income isn't about funding idleness; it's about funding potential. We can have a world where every mind has the means to chase their bliss. That's not simple charity; that's an investment in human capital at its finest. Imagine more Einsteins!

Who could have seen this coming except everyone?
Democratic donor Barry Diller told @CNBC FTC Chair Lina Khan is a "dope" who VP Harris should replace. Now, @CNN has learned that the FTC has *multiple* ongoing investigations into subsidiaries of $IAC, the media conglomerate chaired by Diller. cnn.com/2024/07/30/business/…

BOOM FTC noncompete ban upheld.
JUST IN: Pennsylvania judge denies ATS Tree Services motion for prelim injunction against @FTC's noncompete rule. "The Court finds that Plaintiff has failed to establish irreparable harm. On that finding alone, the Court must deny Plaintiff’s Motion," order says. Even if ATS could establish irreparable harm, motion would fail as it is unable to demonstrate likelihood of success on merits #antitrust

25 years ago today, Rudy Guiliani went on an unhinged rant about ferrets on his NYC call-in show. @Slate animated it and took it to the next level. youtu.be/5l7d_3rkaX4?si=DDnV…

You're not anti-establishment if you're thinking politicians and parties will deliver change. But you can be anti-establishment and engage in electoral politics with the American Union. A national union of swing voters (someone willing to actively defeat incumbents of both parties by electing their major party challengers) has the ability to stage a general strike IN the ballot box if demands aren't met before the election. That's the leverage that can win us all a better social contract in 2024. #VoteAU americanunion.substack.com/p…

Unconditional basic income. Unconstrained basic income. Undeniable basic income. Unfailing basic income. Unfaltering basic income. Universal basic income. Unquestionable basic income. Unrestricted basic income. Unshakeable basic income. Unwavering basic income. That's #UBI.

The IBM PC story teaches us two things: stronger antitrust enforcement spurs innovation and opens markets for scrappy startups to grow to big, important firms; as do weaker IP protections. 16/

"Here's money to do what you want. I trust you. Don't worry about making any money right now. Just do what you want. I support it and believe you'll make lots of money eventually." Am I talking about unconditional basic income or pre-seed venture capital funding?

Anyone who believes that a felony conviction shouldn’t disqualify someone from the most powerful office on the planet must also agree that it makes no sense to prohibit others with felony convictions from serving in more ordinary roles as pest control workers & bartenders.

Reflect for a moment on the undeniable fact that most women experience poverty not because they didn't work hard, but because they worked hard without pay. We don't recognize decades of unpaid care work as deserving to not live in poverty in our later years. We need basic income.

BREAKING! For years, the prison telecom industry has colluded with sheriffs to eliminate jail visits and adopt costly video calls, sharing profits. It ends now. Our partners at @CivRightsCorps, with our help, just filed lawsuits to protect the #Right2Hug. freep.com/story/news/local/m…

Deficit spending is not the same thing as inflation. It just means the government is spending more money than they're collecting through taxes. Inflation is when the general level of prices is increasing over time. One does not imply the other.
Here are the actual possible funding sources for UBI: 1. Income Tax 2. Deficit Spending (i.e. Inflation) 3. Carbon Tax (i.e. negative externalities) 4. LVT (i.e. the benefits of network effects)

I wish people calling for a return to the gold standard would occasionally note that there are fairly well established problems with the gold standard.
Unfortunately there currently is no candidate who can fix this. You can buy Bitcoin though as a way to vote with your dollars, send a clear message, and potentially even save the U.S. long term. A return to the gold standard.

It's fascinating how quick we are to assign value based on pay, yet slow to recognize the immense contribution of caretakers, artists, and volunteers. What if we flipped the script? Universal Basic Income isn't just about money—it's about valuing all forms of work, paid or not.
