Scientists are increasingly finding microplastics in human bodies, and the implications for our health are concerning.
⭐ For the first time, a group of 28 well-known individuals from Canada and the U.S. have been tested for microplastics in their blood and we are sharing their results in the new report, Microplastics in Me.

🦇 You know what’s spooky? All of the single-use plastic that comes with Halloween.
In the U.S. alone, 600 million pounds of candy are purchased every year to celebrate the holiday. 👻 Over 80% of new costumes are made from synthetic materials, worn once, and then tossed, where they live on in landfills and the environment FOREVER. 🧟
While we need systemic changes to reduce plastic at the source, there are still ways to make Halloween a little less wasteful.

Plastic is not as harmless as we’ve been led to believe. Plastic is pollution from inception. From the extraction of fossil fuels to its manufacture and disposal: ❌ #PlasticPollutes!
🌻 #BreakFreeFromPlastic
"New and novel methods must be tried, tested, critiqued, improved and tried again. Science is incremental and gradual – unlike the uncapped production and pollution of plastics, which contain thousands of hazardous chemicals. Decades of robust evidence demonstrates the harms that these inflict on people and planet." #PlasticPollutes

We like the latter. Reuse doesn’t put endless pollution back into the environment. In a report by Pew Charitable Trust they found that:
⏰ 15 years is all it takes to eliminate plastic pollution with reuse systems.
🔄 97% of plastic pollution could be eliminated with reuse and deposit systems + plastic bans.
🧳 Two-thirds of plastic pollution could be eliminated by reuse and return systems.
Designing a world for reuse is one that protects all living creatures from the harms of plastic pollution.

Plastic is not compatible with Earth’s natural cycles. ❌ 🥤It doesn’t decompose; it just breaks apart into smaller and smaller fragments, polluting the world around us and even ourselves. 🌎 The world is coming to Los Angeles in 2028. Let’s show them what a truly sustainable Olympic and Paralympic Games can look like.
🥤❌ Millions of spectators shouldn’t mean millions of disposable cups, bottles, and containers used once and thrown away. The Don’t Waste the Games campaign is calling on LA28 and its sponsors, partners, and venues to choose reuse: reusable cups and foodware, water refill stations, and the freedom for fans and athletes to bring their own reusable bottles.
✍🏽 Add your name and tell LA28: Don’t Waste the Games.
Plastic pollutes. Champions don’t.

🐱 Sadly, even our furry loved ones aren’t immune to the pollution that companies have created.
🔬@CleanLabelTruth tested more than 100 of the nation’s top-selling cat food products and found that 99% of them contained contaminants. The study found an array of pollutants, including plasticizers, herbicides, and heavy metals.
🐈⬛ 99% of the tested cat foods contained lead. Additional contaminants included glyphosate in 37% of samples, cadmium in 96%, and arsenic in 94% of products tested.
🐈 As our world becomes increasingly inundated with plastic and toxic chemicals, uncontrolled pollution is putting our pets at risk. Learn more at: cleanlabelproject.org/cat-fo…
