โ ๏ธ 8 years in finance nearly destroyed my
confidence - and I'm thankful for it.
My journey began when I realised that my voice had become a victim of the stories I was conditioned to believe. With a history of working in high-pressure environments, I developed deep feelings of self-doubt, rejection, and insecurities about my identity and purpose. After 8 years of working in multiple disciplinary roles in the Finance Industry, my confidence had taken a beating.
With a desire to connect deeper with people and re-write the stories I told myself, I needed to understand myself first so that others could understand me. I set off on a path that levelled me up in ways I could never have imagined, and so, I did away with the old me. I engaged in numerous personal development and mentorship programs, facilitated in-person and digital workshops, and took a keen interest in mastering the art of public speaking. And like magicโฆ Player One Start was born.
I was finally equipped with an extensive inventory of tools, experiences and knowledge to satisfy my calling to guide and teach others. Today, my students have learned how to transform their speaking habits, develop self-awareness, have the confidence to take up space, have difficult conversations without compromising their own beliefs, and so much more.
Player One Start offers a judgement-free, supportive, and gamified learning experience that sets the scene for individuals to get comfortable with being the main character in their game of life.
Our mission is to rewrite your story and embark on a strategic quest requiring you to face whatever is holding you back, shape your weaknesses into your strengths, and develop presence, authenticity, and authority.
Together, we will set out your objectives so that you can wield the power of your voice.

If you had 4 weeks to prepare for a company presentation in front of 120+ peopleโฆ What would you do?
Thatโs exactly what happened to Dan, a client of mine.
But before I share his story, weโre approaching the end of 2025. Some of you might already be on a well-deserved break, enjoying the festive season. Others are still pushing through work, hats off to you.
As for me, this time of year is always one of reflection.
Looking back at the (almost) two years Iโve spent building my business, Player One Start, Iโve learned so much about myself, and Iโve been stretched far outside my comfort zone.
From developing a recruitment training course and training consultants at @Coreteam_Group , to pivoting nine months later into what I was truly passionate about: coaching people to elevate their communication skills and build unshakable confidence.
I was a different person back then, from being made redundant to becoming the business owner I am today.
And Danโs journey reminds me why I do what I do.
Dan came to me with a clear goal: prepare for a company speech in front of over 120 people. His presentation needed to both showcase the company's achievements and express appreciation to shareholders.
We didnโt have much time. I told Dan weโd need to start immediately if we wanted him ready before the big night.
Our coaching sessions pushed him beyond his limits but they were also fun. I mixed my love of movies with the gamified style of my coaching to make each session immersive and practical.
What is one of my favourite moments from our sessions? It's Dan standing in his living room shouting, โTHIS IS SPARTA!โ
(Yes, seriously.)
We used variations of that scene to help him control volume, projection, and presence.
Week by week, I saw Danโs confidence grow. The way he stood, the way he spoke, he was evolving.
Then, the big night arrived.
I was honoured to be invited to watch him speak at Enterprise Architectural's event.
When Dan stepped onto the stage, the entire room went silent, you could hear a pin drop. Over 120 people, all waiting to hear what he had to say...
And what happened next?
Well, I wonโt spoil it. Youโll have to watch the video until the end.
๐ Let me know in the comments what you thought of Danโs journey.
If youโre ready to level up your communication and confidence heading into 2026, comment โ2026โ below and weโll start the conversation.
โI used to sit in meetings with something to sayโฆ and still said nothing.โ
If that sounds familiar, youโre not alone.
Iโve been thereโand now I help others break that silence.
Helping You Speak with Confidence, Influence, and Presence.
For years, I held backโquestioning if my voice carried any real weight in the room. I knew I had ideas worth sharing, but self-doubt and hesitation always seemed to get in the way. Sound familiar?
That all changed when I learned how to own my voice, command attention, and speak with confidence. Now, I help others do the same.
With over 15 years of experience in finance, coaching, and leadership, Iโve seen firsthand how powerful communication can transform careers, businesses, and personal growth. Thatโs why I founded Player One Startโa gamified coaching experience designed to help professionals, entrepreneurs, and teams speak with clarity, own their presence, and navigate high-stakes conversations with confidence.
What I Do:
๐ค Public Speaking & Executive Presence โ Speak with confidence and authority.
๐ค Leadership & Business Communication โ Master Influence and Persuasion.
๐ค Handling tough conversations โ Navigate objections, feedback, and negotiations.
๐ค Overcoming self-doubt โ Rewire your mindset and own the room.
The difference? I donโt do boring lectures. My approach is hands-on, interactive, and practicalโdesigned to give you real-world tools that you can apply immediately.
Whether itโs 1-on-1 coaching, corporate training, or masterclasses, my goal is simple: to help you unlock your voice, build unshakable confidence, and rewrite your story.

The Secret to making a Strong First Impression in Any Meeting
Want to Make a Stronger First Impression?
Hereโs How to Own the Room (Virtual or In-Person).
First impressions happen FASTโsometimes in just 7 seconds.
๐ธ People decide if they trust you.
๐ธ People decide if they respect you.
๐ธ People decide if theyโll listen to you.
You canโt control everythingโbut you CAN control your presence.
Why First Impressions Matter
โ
People form snap judgmentsโand they tend to stick.
โ
A confident start builds credibility instantly.
โ
Being intentional sets you apart from the crowd.
You donโt get a second chance at a first impression.
Step 1 โ Start with a Confident Posture
Whether in-person or on camera:
๐น Sit or stand tall.
๐น Shoulders relaxed.
๐น Chin parallel to the ground.
Why it works:
Instantly signals confidence and openness.
People subconsciously mirror your energy.
Step 2 โ Lead with a Clear, Strong Introduction
Own your intro. Speak clearly and naturally.
Example:
"Hi, Iโm [Your Name]. I specialize in [Your Value]. Excited to collaborate today!"
Why it works:
Frames you as capable and confident.
Takes control of how youโre perceived.
Step 3 โ Make Eye Contact (Even on Zoom)
In-person: Look at the speaker, not at your notes.
Virtual: Look into the webcam, not your own image.
Why it works:
Builds instant connection and trust.
Shows youโre fully present and engaged.
Quick Tip: Smile (Genuinely)
People trust those who make them feel at ease.
๐นSmile when introducing yourself.
๐นSmile when listening.
๐นSmile when agreeing.
๐ฏ Itโs one of the simplest ways to be memorable and approachable.
Recap & Empowerment

In this clip, I break down a simple but powerful analogy about why pausing when you speak is essential for real impact. Think of it like feeding someone a mealโif you keep shoving food in without giving them time to chew, theyโll feel overwhelmed. Same goes for your words.
๐ง Let your audience process.
๐ค Let your message breathe.
๐ฅ Let your voice hit different.
If youโve ever felt like people arenโt โgettingโ what you say, this could be the missing link.

โAre you the playerโฆ or just watching life on someone elseโs controller?โ
You are the โPlayer Oneโ in this game called lifeโthe main character, the one in control of the reality you create.
For years, I believed that confidence and communication were innate skillsโeither you had them, or you didnโt. But the truth is, they are learned, developed, and mastered like any other skill. The challenge? Many of us are conditioned to believe otherwise.
I firmly believe that we all have what it takes to level up and become the upgraded version of ourselves. But to reach that level, we must equip ourselves with the right tools. Communication and confidence are two of the most powerful skills we can developโtools that can open doors, unlock opportunities, and reshape the way we connect with the world.
As we refine these skills, our presence expands, our voices grow stronger, and we step into spaces we once thought were out of reach.
But transformation only happens when you press start.
This journey requires courage to face what holds you back, an open mind to absorb new lessons, and discipline to put in the work. But most of all, it requires a commitment to yourselfโto break through limitations, own your narrative, and step fully into your power.
At 'Player One Startโ, we set the scene for you to get comfortable with being the main character in your game of life. Through gamified learning, immersive coaching, and a judgment-free space, weโll rewrite your story togetherโone skill, one challenge, and one level at a time.

How to Speak Up in Meetings Without Feeling Nervous?
Do you struggle to Speak Up in Meetings? Do you feel nervous? Or do you overthink? Are you afraid of being wrong?
๐คHereโs how to gain confidence and make your voice heard!
You want to speakโฆ but then the doubts creep in:
These are the common thoughts that often cross your mind. Donโt worry, I do the same thing too!
โ "What if I sound stupid?"
โ "What if no one listens?"
โ "What if I mess up?"
Meanwhile, others are speaking upโand getting noticed.
Itโs time to change that. Hereโs how! ๐
Step 1 โ Prepare a Go-To Phrase
Ever blanked out when itโs your turn to talk?
๐ก Have a simple opening phrase ready.
๐ฃ Try this:
๐ โIโd like to add to thatโฆโ
๐ โOne thing to consider isโฆโ
๐ โFrom my experience, Iโve found thatโฆโ
Why it works:
โ
Gives you a structured way to jump in.
โ
Helps you start without overthinking.
Step 2 โ Use the โ10-Second Ruleโ
Donโt wait for the โperfectโ momentโit may never come.
Give yourself 10 seconds to speak once you think of something to say.
Example:
๐ You think of a point? Count to 10โฆ then go for it!
Why it works:
โ
Stops overthinking.
โ
Pushes you to take action.
โ
Builds confidence over time.
Step 3 โ Use Questions to Ease In
Not sure how to contribute? Start with a question!
๐ฃ Try this:
๐ โThatโs an interesting pointโhow do you see that playing out?โ
๐ โCould you clarify how this impacts [X]?โ
Why it works:
โ
Less pressure than making a statement.
โ
Keeps you engaged in the conversation.
โ
Shows youโre actively thinking.
Step 4 โ Control Your Pace (No One Notices the โShaky Voiceโ)
Worried about sounding nervous?
Slow down your speech & pause between points.
๐กPro tip:
๐ฃ Instead of rushing, take a breath before you start.
โ
It gives you control.
โ
It makes you sound more confidentโeven if you donโt feel it yet.
Step 5 โ Reframe Your Mindset
Instead of thinking:
โ โWhat if I mess up?โ
โ
Think: โWhat I say matters.โ
Remind yourself:
๐ค You have value to add.
๐ค People respect those who contribute.
๐ค Speaking up is a skillโyou get better each time!
Letโs do a recap!
How to Speak Up in Meetings:
โ
Prepare a go-to phrase โ So youโre always ready.
โ
Use the โ10-second ruleโ โ Stop hesitating.

Was on a call with @Playerone_start , and he brought up the idea of an anchor item.
Something you look at or touch when you need to reset.
A way to stay grounded before reacting.
I picked a watch because Iโm always wearing one.
It reminds me to slow down and stay in control.
Lately, Iโve been thinking, why not make it a habit?
Work stress, annoying people, unexpected problems.
Control starts with awareness.
Words can cut deep.
One wrong move can do damage you canโt take back.
Stay sharp. Stay in control.
