Today I’ll be sharing key insights on what it will take to deepen financial inclusion and unlock greater economic opportunities for young women. #FinancialInclusion #YoungWomenFinancialInclusion

Good morning change-makers! Uganda has roughly 4.5 million young women aged 16-24 — almost 10% of our entire population. These are the make-or-break years that shape their futures, their families, and generations after them. New research from @fsduganda under the YUWFI initiative looks closely at how these young women are accessing and using financial services. The picture is hopeful in some places… and honest about the gaps in others. #FinancialInclusion #YoungWomenFinancialInclusion

At the policy level, we will institutionalize these learnings and work to remove binding constraints, strengthen regulation, and improve access to markets. We must proactively build resilience and avoid reacting only to crises. In closing, I would like to express my gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions and insights. #YoungAfricaWorks #FinancialInclusion
On the demand side, we recognize the need to empower businesses through business development and technical assistance. We will prioritize integrated programming to address the complex challenges faced by SMEs. #YoungAfricaWorks #FinancialInclusion

Key challenges in linking credit to employment and ensuring equitable access: - Only 19% of MSE owners agreed that loans contributed to hiring decisions (44% disagreed). - 85% cited high interest rates; 42% lacked collateral; 27% faced complex application processes. - 52% reported digital adoption barriers, including poor connectivity and limited skills. - Refugee and PWD‑led enterprises started from lower profit baselines and expressed lower satisfaction with loan features. #YoungAfricaWorks #FinancialInclusion
