“The road gives you the scenarios. Simulation lets you test them again and again.” That was one takeaway from PlusAI COO and Co-Founder Shawn Kerrigan’s discussion at HumanX Amsterdam. For autonomous trucking, we believe real-world driving experience and simulation are not either/or. One can capture the social complexity of driving, and the other helps validate the AI driver against rare and challenging scenarios at scale.

Thank you to Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association (AVIA) for hosting a great Autonomy Summit in Austin. @theavindustry PlusAI CEO and Co-Founder David Liu joined Dan Van Alstine, former President and COO of Ruan Transportation Management Systems and a member of PlusAI’s Safety and Policy Advisory Council, for a fireside chat on the path to commercializing autonomous trucking. Key takeaways: 🚛 We believe autonomous trucking is moving from demos toward deployment, and expect the harder challenge to be scaling safely and reliably inside real freight operations. 🚛 Safety must be built on evidence, which could include structured safety cases, rigorous validation, and transparent reporting on readiness. 🚛 Commercial scale requires collaboration across AI developers, OEMs, fleet operators, regulators, and the broader freight ecosystem. 🚛 We expect clear regulatory frameworks will be important for scaling across the US.

Quite the plot twist lol. We use those sand to simulate real freight loads when testing autonomous trucks:

Tiny correction: that’s 40,000 pounds of sand by weight. It was there on purpose: we use it to simulate real freight loads when testing autonomous trucks –

Definitely not the GPU haul. The sand was there on purpose. We use it to simulate real freight loads when testing autonomous trucks. Here’s why:

PlusAI and Texas Ventures Acquisition III Corp have filed a registration statement on Form S-4 with the US Securities and Exchange Commission in connection with our previously announced proposed business combination. This filing marks an important milestone toward completion of the transaction and PlusAI’s planned public listing. Transaction expected to provide PlusAI with capital to advance the targeted 2027 commercial launch of factory-built autonomous trucks powered by SuperDrive™. Exactly. The sand is our way of making the truck feel a lot more like it’s carrying real freight during testing. Here is the quick explainer:

Still one of the stranger ways to explain our testing process... Here’s why we use sand when testing autonomous trucks:

The sand wasn’t just along for the ride. Here’s why we use 40,000 pounds of it to test autonomous trucks under realistic load conditions:

NVIDIA’s latest blog explores why scalable autonomous vehicles, robots, and AI-driven machines require safety across hardware, software, AI behavior, validation, and deployment. PlusAI is proud to be a member of the NVIDIA Halos AI Systems Inspection Lab, part of a broader ecosystem advancing safety for Physical AI systems. @NVIDIADRIVE

At HumanX Amsterdam, PlusAI COO and Co-Founder Shawn Kerrigan explains why the U.S. is well positioned to be the first major market to commercialize autonomous trucking, while Europe is also making meaningful regulatory progress.

At IAA TRANSPORTATION, one question kept coming up: autonomous trucking is getting closer to commercial deployment, but what does it take to move from launch to real scale? As PlusAI COO and Co-Founder Shawn Kerrigan put it: “What will be really exciting is as we go from that launch phase to the scale phase.” We believe that at that point, we will move from the deployment of tens or hundreds to potentially thousands of autonomous trucks. That shift brings a different set of challenges: factory-built vehicle integration, validation across truck platforms, global operating environments and regulatory consistency. We pulled together a few takeaways from Shawn’s discussion with leaders from Bosch, Kodiak and Volvo Autonomous Solutions at IAA Transportation 2026. Have a read: plus.ai/news-and-insights/20….

Turns out the sand had a very specific job. We use it as a simulated load to test how our autonomous trucks behave under real-world weight conditions. Here’s the quick explainer:

The sand was actually doing important work. 😄 Here’s why we use 40,000 pounds of it when testing autonomous trucks:

Yes, there really were 40,000 pounds of sand in those trailers. And yes, there’s a reason. 👇

Safety is foundational to bringing Physical AI into the real world. At PlusAI, this is especially important for autonomous trucking, where AI systems must be validated across hardware, software, AI behavior, and operating environments. We’re excited to work alongside NVIDIA and the broader ecosystem to help advance safe, real-world autonomy. @NVIDIADRIVE
Physical AI can only scale as fast as safety scales with it. 🦺 Lessons from more than a decade of autonomous vehicle safety work are helping shape how robots are designed, validated and deployed alongside people. Learn how NVIDIA Halos is helping: nvda.ws/4rlylLn
