"The Fascists were completely against individualism in general and especially against individualism in a free market economy. Their agenda included minimum wage laws, government restrictions on profit-making, progressive taxation of capital, and “rigidly secular” schools." ... "Indeed, the whole Fascist economic agenda bears a remarkable resemblance to what liberals would later advocate." — THOMAS SOWELL capitalismmagazine.com/2008/…

If you receive welfare, you shouldn’t get to vote because you'd be a single-issue voter on maintaining and increasing your welfare, plus voting for any party that promises to do this.

Yes, GDP overstates well-being in countries with higher levels of government spending and more price controls, i.e., more socialist ones.
There is a big problem with GDP. The government pays people to do stuff, and then we count it at cost rather than the value people actually get from it, which is much less!

This is why Europe is the best place to live Our financials are incredibly stable EU citizens can store their money in our stock market and trust that it's completely safe Look at this: No one lost money over the last 18 years Stable currency. Stable markets. Meanwhile Americans lose money to inflation every month. The European dream is alive and well

The vast majority of people in this country don’t need a pay rise .. We’ve a taxation problem.. We just need to keep more of our own money .. 💰 The government will take 50% of any pay rise anyway under the current system… Wider tax bands are badly badly needed .

I stand with the people who have to wait until 65 to retire. I stand with people who when they fail to hit their targets face consequences. I stand with the Private Sector workers who pay for these public sector pensions and don't have their head up their own arse.
SIPTU has a clear message for public servants scheduled to work from home on Wednesday. Don't do it. Don't open your laptop. Don't check your emails. Don't teach online. Don't answer your phone. A strike only works when the work stops. Remote work is work. #UnionStrike

If public sector workers can afford to strike and forego pay, then they clearly don't need a raise.

But according to these people 16 euro an hour is a living wage. So by their own logic nearly every public sector worker is earning well above the living wage. 🤣

And of course he's lying.
It is 18C outside Tralee at 8.00pm on 12th October. Ireland used never reach these night time temperatures, even in high summer, during heatwaves. Now, our Autumn nights are becoming tropical. All fine and dandy many say, but where will the food come from in 5 years time?

On average, Boomers are getting paid more from Social Security than they “paid into it.” A lot more. Like double, and that’s counting inflation and interest. In raw dollars, they’ll get four to seven times what they paid in. So what about this compromise, to at least stave off insolvency and save billions: you get back what you paid in, but no more. Young families won’t be forced to finance a 250 percent return on your “investment.” That seems extremely reasonable, doesn’t it? It doesn’t go nearly as far as I would like. But it’s a very fair compromise. It completely negates any claim that you didn’t get the money back that you “paid in.” And yet I suspect that this comprise will not be satisfactory. Why is that? Because this debate actually has nothing to do with “getting back what you paid in.” The REAL demand is for a lot more than that.

I am so sick of these morons. The state squeezes the fuck out of businesses at every single turn, and simps like this excuse it, and blame the entrepreneurs taking risk, and trying to create wealth and jobs in the economy. A business gets hit with corporation & income taxes, employer payroll contributions, capital gains & dividend taxes and commercial rates & municipal charges at the local level. The state does this while (along with banks) flooding the economy with money which strips people and businesses of their purchasing power, while simultaneously making goods and service more expensive. Which, not surprisingly, has the downstream effect of pushing capital into assets that don't directly aid in local economies, because why the fuck would you not salvage what you can here? To make up for the consequences of its own interference, the state consistently escalates wage floors, legislates unfunded entitlements and other complex regulations and makes doing business an absolute nightmare. Businesses who have barely survived for years can be put in the red by any combination of these measures, and ultimately closed. If you are one of the lucky ones who still manage to do well, the state will simply seek to take more, and if you manage to outperform Socialists like this twat will demand you pay even more and call it 'your fair share' - even though you already pay the overwhelming majority of taxation. And yes, minimum wage increases are one of these things that can be the straw that breaks the proverbial camel's back. Minimum wage laws simply monopolise labour by cutting off younger/more inexperienced people from the workforce. And if you are pro worker, why shouldn't a worker be able to negotiate the price of their own labour, freely? Oh yes, because people don't have agency, and need the Socialists to perform this role, naturally. Remember, if you are a successful person in the private sector you are literally paying for services that you mostly don't even use yourself - you are funding these services for other people, the very people who will just want more and more because we live in such a welfare minded society. Gobshites like this lad - a literal public sector creation - that run cover for this lunacy infuriate me.
Workers add value to businesses If your business depends on paying starvation wages and still can’t turn a profit, then maybe try doing something else

The standoff on the Garvaghy Road today is usually filed as a leftover from the 1990s. It is more useful than that. It shows, in real time, how group identity and a sense of whose place it is actually work. Michelle O’Neill, Sinn Féin vice president and Stormont First Minister, stood on the Garvaghy Road this morning with Mary Lou McDonald and residents blocking the Orange parade. They were not performing abstract liberalism. They were acting as a community that regards the road as theirs and the parade as an intrusion. Some in the crowd called for Stormont to be brought down. In that setting Sinn Féin is saying that sharing space on the other side’s terms does not work, that residents must consent to what comes into their area, and that resistance is legitimate. None of this excuses the Orange Order. It could take another route, through areas where it would face no conflict at all. That is not the goal. The goal is space: the expansion into it and the occupation of it. Both sides on that road are acting on the same premise, that territory belongs to a people. That matters because it is the easiest available test of the official story about diversity. Two groups that look alike and share large amounts of ancestry still cannot agree who may walk a particular road on a Sunday. The state has to bring in a specialist commission, large numbers of police, emergency court hearings and the head of the power sharing government. Ulster has had contact, time and shared institutions in abundance, and the lowest cultural distance between its two main populations. If proximity and institutions dissolved group conflict, it should have happened here. Some will say 28 years without a march on this road proves the institutions worked. It proves the opposite. That peace was kept by holding the two communities apart on this question, not by closing the difference between them. The first time the arrangement was tested, thousands were back on the road to say no. Now apply the same rule in the Republic. When residents anywhere across the State object to an IPAS centre placed in their community without consultation, the same party tells them their consent is irrelevant and their objection is bigotry. Residents’ consent is sacred in Portadown and dismissed everywhere else. The alignment on the ground makes the point a little sharper. Loyalist areas have flown Israeli flags since 2002, and unionist politicians speak openly of a longstanding affinity with Israel, seeing in it a people besieged by terrorism, as they see themselves. Republican areas fly the Palestinian flag, and Sinn Féin casts both the Garvaghy residents and the Palestinians as native communities resisting settlers imposed on them. Every one of those positions rests on the same premise: that a people has a prior claim to its own place and may refuse what is imposed on it. Sinn Féin accepts that premise in Portadown and in Gaza. It rejects it only in the Free State. People Before Profit and the rest of the left will call you a fascist for saying the obvious next sentence: if two closely related communities still produce recurring standoffs over, importing tens of thousands of people with larger differences in language, religion, family structure and historical memory into already dense working class areas will not produce harmony for your children and grandchildren. It will produce the same kind of dispute, only with a wider gap and less time to close it. That same left does not even hold to Irish independence. The Socialist Party, People Before Profit’s partner in their Dáil alliance, states in its own constitution a preference for a socialist Ireland within a voluntary socialist federation of Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales. The people who call you a fascist for defending the nation would bind it back to Britain, provided the flag were red.

Figures from Fingal County Council show that in January 2026 there were 450 single adults in homeless emergency accommodation under this Council. 171 were Irish citizens. That is 38% of those whose nationality was recorded, 61.2% were citizens of other countries, and 45.6% of the total were from outside the EEA. There were 354 families. 79 were Irish. That is 22.3%. Of those whose nationality was recorded, 77.6% were citizens of other countries, and 48.6% of the total were from outside the EEA. In both cases Irish citizens are a minority in a publicly funded service.
