🇦🇱 ALBANIA: Large scale anti-government protests and clashes continued in Tirana over the weekend. Thousands returned to the streets despite a heavy police crackdown.
The people focused he against riot police, who deployed tear gas, water cannons, and rubber bullets. A known member of a well organised ultras group in Albania was badly injured after being shot in the eye by police with a “less lethal” round.
The protests, which began in May, have grown into a wider movement against corruption, economic struggle, and Prime Minister Edi Rama’s government. Rama refused to budge at all.
Despite hundreds of injuries, mass arrests, and new government measures threatening protesters with heavy retribution, the demonstrations show no sign of stopping.
