Steel Ferns
In a valley where time had folded in on itself, a humble, thatched-roof rural cottage sat quietly at the edge of an ancient dirt path, completely dwarfed by the vertical monstrosity looming behind it.
Towering directly above the countryside, an absurd, heavily layered futuristic cityscape rose into the smoke-filled night, its industrial tiers, crooked apartment blocks, and massive machinery stacked like a crumbling mountain of steel and stone.
The somber landscape was cast in muted, dark tones, with soft, natural shadows in the overgrown woods on the left contrasting with the dramatic, warm glow of the cityโs endless windows and factory fires.
On the right, a natural rock cliff was absurdly integrated into the metropolis, feeding a fluid waterfall that cascaded into the dark, cluttered foreground as if attempting to wash away the chaotic, overlapping eras.
Under this hazy, oppressive sky, the peaceful cottage and the busy, industrial giant seemed to exist in a silent, shared dreaming state, both defying the logic of the world.
