🚨 THE UK JUST MADE THE CASE FOR THE STRATOSPHERE
At Cambridge Tech Week, Rico Chandra, the Programme Director at the UK’s Advanced Research + Invention Agency (ARIA @ARIA_research), framed stratospheric platforms as a new layer of national infrastructure.
ARIA is the UK's agency for high-risk, high-reward science, with advisors like Nobel laureate Sir Demis Hassabis @demishassabis
💵 ARIA backed 18 teams with £70m to make Enduring Atmospheric Platforms real.
The week's chair was none other than Dr Mike Short CBE: former Chair of the GSMA, 40+ years in telecoms, former VP at Telefónica, and the first Chief Scientific Adviser at the UK Department for International Trade.
He's also World Mobile Stratospheric's Senior Technology Advisor!
Dr Short said: "We will soon see more HAPS", and that choice "will help reduce costs".
This is great validation for WMS, already building it!

With TELRPC, a transaction is:
- signed locally on the device
- encoded into call tones
- carried over the voice network
- then broadcast onchain
The signing environment stays offline throughout.
Few months old, but I enjoyed a second spin. Maybe you will as well. PH is Just getting started. 🔥

What if your wallet could send a blockchain transaction without the signing device ever going online?
That is the idea behind @telrpcofficial, built by World Mobile and @Minutes_Network.
A phone call, now a blockchain rail. 🧵

Following the news of the new Oddie District project the first World Mobile store alongside our U.S. HQ and R&D lab upgrade and expansion comes Q1 2027. World Mobile's appeal and ethos isn't a niche segment. I believe it commands and is worthy of mass broad market appeal. This activation will showcase what we do differently and why we do what we do.
I've always believed in the in-store experience and have felt it has stagnated for far too long. With the return of key brands across multiple industries reopening in the physical space and a desire for in-person product viewing and that true white glove experience... a storefront has to be that experience. This store concept is inspired by countless hours of my own research and data points on existing friction points in the existing industries in-store experience to truly bring back the excitement of the in-store experience. Where every interaction, even without a transaction, brings you coming back for more.
A place for World Mobile community gatherings with key summits, hackathons, hardware & software launch parties, like the world used to have, to giveaways and exclusive items across gear, accessories and software you can't find anywhere else.
Buy the network and take it home. Activate the Sharing Economy same day. This space we're growing into isn't just for us, it's for the community of Reno - Tahoe included. With multiple business neighbors including food & beverage, indoor and outdoor staging, pet & art parks to battery tech, robotics and AI. All under one roof with the ability to reach out instantly to each other to collaborate and foster great relationships. The project claims the label for the planet's largest innovation & arts maker space and so naturally it fit with us where we are now and the expansion next door as the development project grew. And with key stakeholders and development owners who want to see us grow and succeed the relationship has blossomed over the years of which we're also thankful for this opportunity.
But I must reiterate to you all that this store won't be just Reno - Tahoe's alone. It will be the turnkey blueprint any Network Builder can bring to any community. Even outside the United States. From the full software & hardware stack custom built from the ground up by World Mobile to help your operations, and your network, succeed.
In the coming weeks I'll be announcing more about what you can find within and a look at the space (it's already built and being prepped as we speak!)
And for those of you not in Reno - Tahoe, what's included for you as well.
More soon. 💛

T-Mobile CTO in new post on @SpaceX acquiring nationwide low-band spectrum to help turn Starlink into a major U.S. mobile carrier:
"Some are calling it the "last critical piece" needed to compete with the national wireless carriers. I can tell you there's a big difference between owning spectrum and delivering a great mobile experience to millions of customers.
A few things worth keeping in perspective:
1) Spectrum is just the starting point.
The Grain transaction involves approximately 14 MHz of spectrum that T-Mobile previously divested because it was no longer central to our network strategy. Even with this acquisition, @Starlink Mobile would have roughly 80 MHz of spectrum, some of it uplink-only. Compare that to T-Mobile's nearly 400 MHz of mid-band and low-band spectrum holdings.
We used 800 MHz spectrum as a single 5 MHz uplink/5 MHz downlink channel for LTE years ago. Today, we're operating a nationwide 5G Standalone network, launched nationwide 5G-Advanced, and are already helping shape the path to 6G, all using channels that are much wider. The industry has moved forward and so have the expectations of customers.
2) Physics still applies.
A satellite hundreds of kilometers above Earth faces approximately 50 dB more path loss than a terrestrial cell site just a kilometer away. Moving from 2 GHz to 800 MHz recovers only a few dB of that enormous disadvantage.
Lower-frequency spectrum can help improve satellite connectivity, but it doesn't change the fundamental physics. A satellite signal traveling hundreds of kilometers simply faces challenges that a nearby cell tower doesn't.
3) Indoor coverage is where the real test begins.
More than 70% of mobile traffic takes place indoors. Think about where you use your phone most: at home, in the office, inside a store, or at a crowded venue.
That's where terrestrial networks have a fundamental advantage. Buildings, walls, and other obstacles make it much harder for signals traveling from space to reach customers reliably. Direct-to-Cell technology can extend connectivity to outdoor places traditional networks don't reach, but delivering a consistent indoor mobile experience is a very different challenge.
4) Capacity matters just as much as coverage.
One satellite beam can cover an area served by hundreds of terrestrial cell sectors. Those terrestrial sectors provide the network density needed to support millions of customers streaming video, making calls, working, gaming, and using data simultaneously.
Covering a geographic area is one thing. Delivering the speed, responsiveness, and capacity customers expect from a modern 5G-Advanced network is another.
Direct-to-Cell has an important role to play in extending coverage. But it is a complement to terrestrial networks, not a replacement for the capacity of a dense 5G-Advanced network.
5) Building a great network takes more than capital. It takes time and experience.
The U.S. wireless industry has invested more than $250B in network infrastructure since 2018. That’s on top of more than $200B in spectrum auctions over the past decade, plus the stores, care, and distribution that support customers every day. And that investment represents only part of what it takes to deliver a great wireless experience.
You can acquire spectrum in a single transaction. You cannot acquire a nationwide, high-performing wireless network overnight.
If this is truly the beginning of a new wireless provider in America, we welcome competition. It's good for innovation, good for the industry, and most importantly, good for customers.
But great wireless networks aren't built with headlines or spectrum licenses alone. They're built site by site, neighborhood by neighborhood, in subway tunnels, office buildings, stadiums, and communities across America.
Spectrum is an essential ingredient. But it takes a network to deliver on its promise."

One Starlink dish can get more neighbours online when @WorldMobileTeam shares the connection through local AirNodes 👀
Your phone connects to an AirNode; @Starlink links that network to the internet. That’s the backhaul, and World Mobile has been using Starlink for it since 2021.
People hosting the equipment earn from connecting their neighbours. More people using the connection, with something in it for those helping provide it.
And now @MrTelecoms is welcoming @elonmusk to the sharing economy 😆

The sharing economy model will ultimately be the only way forward to provide connectivity at scale
Welcome to the sharing economy, @elonmusk🤝
@Starlink is the best network ever put in orbit. Since 2021 it has been the backhaul for the largest sharing economy ground network in the world. Ours.
170,000+ community owned AirNodes across Africa, Asia and the US. The people who host them get paid for connecting their neighbours. The people who connect get an opportunity only half the world has today. Communities living in Swiss cheese coverage are whole again.
Below: North Carolina after Hurricane Helene. @SpaceX's Mike Coryell led the Starlink and Powerwall deployment. We worked alongside his team to connect the disconnected and made the rollout more efficient.
We bet on this model in 2018. We were right.
Connectivity is a human right.
