Introducing the Precision Brain Atlas: high-resolution neural recordings from 70 patients across 12 academic medical centers. A growing resource for studying human neural function- and a step toward a Whole-Brain Interface.
Every recording exists because someone agreed to contribute to research. Thank you to the 70 participants and the teams who made this work possible. Read the bioRxiv preprint here: biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…
This is a first edition. As the resource grows, so does the opportunity to explore what this knowledge could enable—and how it could improve people’s lives.

Precision Neuroscience has closed an oversubscribed $250M Series D, co-led by @PershingSquare Capital Management, The Ackman Oxman Institute, and a leading life sciences investment fund.
Total raised: ~$430M.
But the financing is only part of the story. Precision now has completed 100+ procedures across 18 major medical institutions. Building BCI requires more than an interface. It requires clinical infrastructure.
Since our last financing @PrecisionNeuro_ has also:
- Received @FDA clearance for Layer 7™
- Expanded peer-review clinical research
- Partnered with @Medtronic
- Expanded U.S. MEMS manufacturing
The next phase of BCI will be defined not only by what the technology can do in a laboratory. It will be defined by whether companies can build the clinical, regulatory, and manufacturing infrastructure required to bring it to patients.
This funding will support:
- Expanded clinical work
- Additional FDA review
- Commercialization infrastructure

Precision’s brain-computer interface is an investigational device and is not available for sale in the United States.
“The experience of controlling a computer with my thoughts, moving a cursor around the screen and playing games, was mind-blowing”. That’s how Jasaun Knight described his first experience operating a computer using only his thoughts and @PrecisionNeuro_'s Layer 7 cortical interface in a new @FinancialTimes article.
Jasaun is one of fewer than 200 people worldwide to have been implanted with a brain-computer interface (BCI) — neurotech that detects neural activity and translates it into digital commands. Jasaun’s experience is a powerful reminder of why we’re advancing this technology: not simply to understand the brain, but to help people regain independence, communication, and connection. It’s an exciting glimpse into a future where the boundary between the brain and technology could look very different — and where innovations in BCI tech may help people with paralysis interact with the digital world around them in entirely new ways.
The @FT article takes a closer look at the companies advancing BCI tech and the different approaches they’re taking, highlighting @PrecisionNeuro_'s development of minimally invasive, thin, flexible interfaces designed to sit on the surface of the brain, capturing neural signals without penetrating brain tissue.

We’re proud to share that Precision Neuroscience has been nominated for the 2026 Prix Galien USA, one of the most prestigious recognitions in life sciences.
@PrecisionNeuro_'s Layer 7 cortical interface has been nominated for the inaugural “Patient First” Award in Honor of Michael J. Fox. This recognition highlights the importance of putting patients at the center of innovation and the future of neuro tech. Precision’s BCI system is designed to create a direct link between the brain and digital devices, with the potential to help people living with paralysis interact with computers, smartphones, and other technologies using only their thoughts.
We’re grateful to Prix Galien USA for recognizing the progress being made in BCI tech and the collective efforts of the Precision Neuroscience team to develop solutions that can help people living with severe neurological conditions achieve greater independence, communication, and connection.
The Prix Galien USA 2026 Awards Ceremony will take place on October 29th in New York City.

A fresh look at the future of brain-computer interfaces. A new feature from @CENmag explores the different approaches researchers and companies are taking to develop Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs)—including Precision Neuroscience’s Layer 7 Cortical Interface, designed to sit on the surface of the brain and record neural signals without penetrating brain tissue.
Vanessa Tolosa, @PrecisionNeuro_'s Senior Vice President of Research & Development Operations, shares how the company’s surface-based approach could help reduce the body’s foreign-body response while still capturing meaningful brain signals. “It’s almost like we have this cheat code.” The article also highlights an important question for the field: How deep does an electrode really need to go?
At Precision Neuroscience, we’re continuing to explore what’s possible from the brain’s surface—and how a minimally invasive approach could ultimately make BCIs more accessible to the people who could benefit from them. Read the full article below to learn more about the technologies shaping the future of BCIs.

This is Layer 7. @PrecisionNeuro_'s non-penetrating brain computer interface, 510(k) cleared for research use. Precision’s brain-computer interface is an investigational device and is not available for sale in the United States. #BCI #Neurotechnology
A new milestone for brain-computer interfaces: For the first time, participants without paralysis are controlling computers, playing video games, and operating digital devices using a brain-computer interface that records from the brain’s surface rather than penetrating it.

Every movement starts in the cortex — a 2mm sheet of tissue firing in patterns too fast and complex to see. Layer 7 records that neural data at native resolution and pairs it with GPU compute to decode it in real time.
