🚨 José Mourinho: “Bournemouth played the European football Carrick promised. Amorim’s Milan looked exactly like his United.” “I’m surprised by this new set of English clubs running riot in Europe. They’re enjoying themselves and making it difficult to be beaten. Except for one team. Manchester United. The AC Milan we saw tonight is the same team Amorim used at Old Trafford. No hunger to recover lost positions. No cohesiveness. Tonight Bournemouth played the experience Michael Carrick promised United fans. The only difference is the shirt. Remember Amorim’s game against Bournemouth? That’s exactly what we watched again. The only side with a competitive edge was the Cherries. Milan looked finished after the free-kick. Last time Amorim complained about not being backed and wanting to be the manager, not the coach. Tonight felt completely different. A manager’s reaction? No. A coach still sceptical about his own ideas. He is well backed and respected by the fans. This performance is discouraging. Well done to Bournemouth. It reminds Manchester United and Carrick how European nights should be played. Bruno Fernandes shouldn’t be captain for the next two or three matches. Throwing the manager under the bus should not be encouraged. United are no longer strict, they’ve gone soft. Imagine Bruno complaining that Ferguson asked him to play man to man even when 4-0 down. Those offences used to be punished by the bench.”
