Were you happy with the available choices on Election Day? If so, we're happy for you.
But if not, work with us to tear down the two-party system and replace it with a more representative, competitive, and functional multi-party system via #ProportionalRepresentation.
We agree that #ProportionalRepresentation would probably fix more problems with our politics than any other single reform.

Proportional representation is like the crown jewel of reforms in America...so helpful and badly needed.
A party wins 40% of the vote. They deserve:
A) all of the power
B) none of the power
C) a 40% share of the power
If they get 60%, they deserve:
A) all of the power
B) none of the power
C) a 60% share of the power
Did you pick C? Then you support #ProportionalRepresentation.

I wrote a long law review essay about why proportional representation is essential for successful multiracial multiethnic democracy. The tldr: winner-take-all political systems are really bad for diverse societies. Two-party systems are bad for minorities.

Want fair and representative elections? Support #ProportionalRepresentation.
Electing Congress and state legislatures by proportional representation would secure fair, inclusive multiparty representation for a politically diverse population.

"#ProportionalRepresentation is basically race neutral… It allows, basically, the voters to determine the groupings rather than some state entity or some politicians creating the political winners and losers."

"For the first time, California law explicitly recognizes [#ProportionalRepresentation] voting methods... as remedies... available to all local jurisdictions, including cities without a charter, sometimes known as 'general law cities.'"

#ProportionalRepresentation lets voters decide how to group themselves. Don't leave that up to the politicians!
For @SpencerOverton, one of the virtues of proportional representation is that it changes who gets to define a political community, solving concerns about politicians dictating race-based or partisan political lines.

At the end of the day, #ProportionalRepresentation performs quite well.
If you want things done fast, go with a one-party system (e.g., China, or even the US right now). If you want things done according to how the people actually want them done, go with a multi-party system.
“'She also really cared about ideas, and I think many of those ideas were ahead of their time.' For example, Guinier was an early champion of instituting #ProportionalRepresentation in U.S. elections.”

I'm almost certain it won't be a single third party that emerges, but rather a new electoral system that allows multiple parties to gain representation and form coalitions.
And yes, it does start to feel inevitable. More polling: newamerica.org/insights/prop…
There are all sorts of procedural and legal reasons why the U.S. has been a two-party country for so long, and I'm not convinced that the rise of a successful third party is imminent, but ...
Well, let's put it this way: If and when a successful third party emerges in the next decade, people are going to pass around graphs like this in a "lol this is the most obvious development in modern political history" kind of way
"We must discuss changing the entire structure, possibly to resemble most democratic societies that have a system of #ProportionalRepresentation rather than the winner-take-all districts we have."

Britain may be on the brink of adopting proportional representation 👀theguardian.com/politics/202…
With #ProportionalRepresentation, you'd have an actual representative who would do a lot more of what you want them to.
"We're likely to see a narrow window to halt gerrymandering… One area where I see real opportunity is proportional representation, which could achieve elections that actually reflect the will of the people."

Surveys show voters are interested in options beyond the two major parties. But our single-choice, winner-take-all elections discourage new parties from participating.
Proportional representation can put the U.S. on a path to multi-party democracy. ⬇️

💥BREAKING: Andy Burnham announces a National Commission on Electoral Reform.
This is a historic moment. The era of First Past the Post is coming to an end.
It's time to transform politics and make all votes count. It's time for Proportional Representation.
"There are many ways to draw up new blueprints for what a reconstructed democracy should look like. #ProportionalRepresentation is one of the most promising I have seen, and it deserves more attention and more investment."

Quick question: if one company controlled a market for 60 years, we'd call it a monopoly and break it up. So why do we accept it in politics?
California needs #ProportionalRepresentation.
