Yes you are right. They confined themselves to a smaller issue but that is the solution in this matter. The law is upheld and unanimity is introduced.
Replying to @ProfFMustafa
Dear @ProfFMustafa , with all respects, we would like to get a clarification from you.
In this article, you wrote : "since two judges could not agree on upholding the law, they should have read it down.."
The issue before these 2 Judges Bench now was only this: To refer or not to refer. Nothing more. Nothing less. At that stage how do you expect them to enter into merits?
Justice Datta gave a prima facie view on neutrality aspect. But clarified that this is confined to consideration of the prayer for a reference and does not entail any expression qua the merits.

Muslim women are entitled to rights given to them by the constitution. Cultural relativism cannot undermine these rights. Muslim clergy should not try to restrict their freedoms.
Yet another historic order by the Chief Justice of India led bench. Quashing of FIRs is a big relief. Students should no more have any grievance against Hon’ble CJI.
I welcome this initiative of Government of Bihar. It is indeed a progressive step. Education Minister and Hon’ble Chief Minister deserve commendation.
Students from Underprivileged groups are unable to take academic stress. They are given same tests and examinations with same promotion rules. They get caught in back papers’ vicious cycle and then face loneliness leading to suicidal tendencies. VCs must do their hand holding.
Student suicide pains me for days together. More Dalit Students and vernacular medium students commit suicides due to academic stress. In my report to Hyderabad High Court, I had suggested that bar for promotion for such students be reduced so that they do not face loss of year.

NEW | The Supreme Court’s modification of the 3-year practice rule for appointment to judicial office is a salutary move. This will act as a safeguard against exclusion of candidates from marginalised sections and could improve quality of adjudication.

Historic and absolutely correct judgment from His Lordship Hon’ble Justice Surya Kant, CJI. Overruling earlier judgment is extremely difficult. This would not only help the students but also attract best talent to the judiciary. Law students must thank His Lordship.
