A more honest and effective way to begin an answer to the “pay for” question.
Money is created when government spends. Money is not the problem. The question is what we do with money and for whose benefit. Let's start with renewable energy, insulated homes, rent controls and council houses? Their economics has delivered poverty and billionaires. Enough!

What a turnaround in three weeks... Lula pulls off historic re-election victory: a fourth term as president and the first ever candidate to overturn a first-round loss
Poll today puts Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro neck and neck, just over a week from presidential run-off. Lula seems to be closing the gap. While polling was way out in first round of this year's election, he can't be written off...

Why we must severely restrict wealth and dismantle privately run monopolies. Does the US need Musk’s money? No. Its central bank issues $$$s, not Musk. But in a few days 360 million citizens will be voting. What’s the point if one man can do this?👇🏻 bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvx2…

“Racism appears then , not as an incidental detail, but as a consubstantial part of colonialism. It is the highest expression of the colonial system, and one of the most significant features of the colonist.” P.140

Tonight’s reading : “everything would be perfect if it weren’t for the natives. But the colonialist realizes that without the colonized, the colony would no longer have any meaning. This intolerable contradiction fills him with a rage, a loathing, always ready to be loosed”p.132

In which another BBC journalist ignores the BBC’s own guidelines on misrepresenting government constraints as household constraints. The govt is never financially constrained; it creates its own fiscal headroom. Spending limits are political. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c65y…

“Next year he actually has to find the money that doesn’t exist.” “There are things the Government can do that aren’t just about tax.” Rachel Wolf, who co-wrote the 2019 Conservative manifesto and Paul Nowak, TUC General Secretary, discuss the challenge facing Andy Burnham’s government, ahead of next week’s Budget #Newsnight

Yes tax billionaires- but not because we need their money, but because we don’t want them to have it. O’Brien is plain wrong - the government fund and create markets - not taxes. Where do @TaxJusticeUK think tax payers get the money to pay taxes? #MMT
O'Brien is spot on here. The idea of the 'self-made' millionaire or billionaire is a fantasy. Success doesn't happen in a vacuum. Wealth is created collectively. When those who've gained the most stop paying back in, the foundations that made their success possible crumble.

Be clear what this is: A senior DUP politician wants to collapse the govt cause an extremist Protestant group wasn’t able to parade through a Catholic area in a majority Protestant town. Supremacist thinking recognised for what it is the world over.
DUP MP @carlalockhart has addressed thousands at a rally in Portadown this evening. “Profound consequences must mean profound consequences . Michelle O’Neill must go. That’s where I stand and this lady is not for turning.” Read more : bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c6eq…

A young Israeli (in her British accent): "We should take it (Gaza) cause god commanded us to take it." Palestinians should go to "any other Arab country except Jordan, Lebanon & Syria, they're ours....or we'll kill them." The EU arms them. And Shitter is offended by Beoga.

If you listen to media commentators they'll tell you the Russians are a threat to our undersea infrastructure. Meanwhile in the real world: 1. A Ukrainian (CIA linked) blew up EU energy security 2. The Brits are spying on our communications Facts don't fit the narrative.

Sound familiar? Wall Street is bundling AI data centre debt into bonds and selling it on to pension funds. When the AI bubble bursts, and it will, guess who's going to be left holding the bag of shit? #AIBubble

2/3 of the cause of the blue green algae blooms on Lough Neagh is agriculture, this misleading story in the @irish_news would have you believe the major cause is sewerage - which accounts for 25%. deflection from the need to change agricultural practices not impose water charges

The British government creates pounds when it spends; it doesn't fetch them from taxpayers first. That's how the Treasury and Bank of England actually operate. 'Fiscal limits' is a self-imposed rule not a limit on what the state can afford, the only limit is inflation & resources

Not one mention of the #climatecrisis either from PM Burnham or the journalist who wrote this … so we’re left with a piece that addresses the effects and not the causes of the “unexpected events” … as if they ‘just happen’ … banning disposable barbecues all over again

Good long read on how AI is only intensifying the commodification of higher education - dynamics that Mark Fisher pinpointed nearly 20 years ago. 'A drive-thru education fosters AI because it sucks all the satisfaction from learning and from teaching.' theconversation.com/friday-e…
