It’s like the AFC doesn’t get the purpose of the Nations League… who would’ve thought
& you know every “Nations League finals” iteration will get hosted in the Gulf
I haven’t read the fine print but doubtless this is to guarantee that Saudi and Qatar always qualify for the World Cup - given they rigged the 4th round last time and still nearly stuffed it up
🚨💣 BREAKING: The AFC Nations League could REPLACE the current Asian World Cup qualifying format from 2030!
Under the proposed system, Nations League results would directly determine qualification for both the World Cup and Asian Cup.
THE PROPOSED FORMAT:
• Tier 1: 18 nations
• Tier 2: 18 nations
• Tier 3: 11 nations
WORLD CUP QUALIFICATION — FROM 2032/33:
Each nation would play 12 matches: six at home and six away.
• 1st–6th in Tier 1: Direct World Cup qualification.
• 7th–10th: Playoffs for two additional World Cup spots.
• Playoff third place: Intercontinental playoff.
ASIAN CUP QUALIFICATION:
• All 18 Tier 1 nations qualify.
• The top six Tier 2 nations also qualify.
NATIONS LEAGUE TITLE:
The top eight Tier 1 nations would advance to a knockout stage to determine the champion.
Promotion and relegation would operate between all three divisions.
IMPLEMENTATION TIMELINE:
• 2028/29: Proposed pilot edition.
• 2030: Potential official launch.
• 2032/33: Proposed integration into World Cup qualification.
If approved, this would fundamentally reshape the road to the World Cup for Iraq and every other Asian nation.
The traditional qualifying system could be replaced by a league format where every match matters.@ESPNAsia
Enroute to Europe on Emirates and stumbled across Ligue 1 highlights with @simonhill1894 commenting on Troyes featuring Patrick Beach 👍
Feels just like the old days
No worries mate 🇦🇺
Can someone in a country other than Canada or the U.S open google maps and tell us if it says Lake Ontario or Lake America?
Please let us know. @LakeOntario16
Love Canada 🇨🇦 @MarkJCarney
I’ll be near Lisbon on Sep 20 when Sporting are at home, so this will be a must do 👍⚽️
Come for the chances Nestory Irankunda created on Sporting CP debut, stay for the brilliant post match scenes 🇦🇺🤩🇵🇹
It was a special atmosphere that greeted the Socceroos forward to celebrate three points after an impressive substitute cameo 🙌
Irankunda played 22 minutes in Sporting’s 3-1 win against Alverca.

Is there any other club / team that Ange has coached where he would tolerate such an old bloke?
His strategy usually revolves around younger undiscovered talents
In 2009, as Cristiano Ronaldo made a $154 million move to Real Madrid - Ange Postecoglou was in charge of Victorian state league side Whittlesea Zebras.
Today, 17 years on, the Aussie manager greeted one of the World’s greatest players at Al Nassr as his new head coach.
A story you’d struggle to believe if there wasn’t photographic evidence 🤯🇦🇺
