Wondering why you can no longer get a seat on the Elizabeth line? New @railandroad data shows Lizzie line is busier than ever, and now accounts for one in six of all rail journeys in the UK standard.co.uk/news/transpor…

Three successive Governments have confirmed that HS2 is going ahead, and it’s time for the naysayers to accept that rather than trying to undermine the West Midlands.

Remember when it was all “Take Back Control”, “we hold all the cards”, “they need us more than we need them”, “no downsides”, “Brexit means Brexit”, & “Oven Ready Deal”? Now we have #BrexitReality, and it’s: “Made in Germany”. Any comment @michaelgove? independent.co.uk/news/uk/po…

Top work by the Network Rail team that discovered this hairline crack in a rail last night. This is precisely the type of incident that could be missed if Network Rail cut their scheduled maintenance tasks by 50% #SupportRailWorkers

In the UK right now a train is delayed because a cat is sitting on the roof and refusing to come down. #Ungovernable

As it is King's Cross Station's 170th birthday this week, I just wanted to repost these images of it that my late grandfather took in 1970.

King's Cross, one of my favourite stations, is 170 years old next Friday. So here's a little something, the layout on opening in 1852, printed in "The Builder". The letters on the plan denote the following: A. Oil stores and lamp room. B. Guard's mess room. C. Lost parcels

All those “the government is about to cancel HS2 types” might like to watch this. Our new Secretary of State for Transport sounds rather keen on the project…..
Curzon Street HS2 Station is set to be one of the most sustainable stations in the world. Transport Secretary @annietrev and Rail Minister @kevin_j_foster went to see the progress being made. Watch👇 #Birmingham #HS2 @HS2ldt

Just found this. In 1937, the British Health Resorts Association conference discussed ideas for better accommodating young children on trains. It seems that since people started travelling en mass by rail, there've been arguments for better provision for families with children.

Still one of my all time favourite railway pics.... love it. It’s a far cry from the Pre-book, print at home, show-a-QRcode-on-our phone or zapping contactless world we live in today.

Well what a day that was! Day “actually #Day10” (I miscounted a few days ago so the other days are all numbered wrong! 🤦🏻‍♂️) of #SwitzerlandByTrain2022-and-Germany has involved me being on the move for very nearly all of the last 16 hours and now I’m very very tired! 😴 Highlight:
