Over 100 people applied to join our Soho Breakfast Shuffle event last week. We sadly had to cap it at 30, but I think it's safe to say it was a big success, and we'll be doing many more!
We were joined by some of the sharpest people in eCommerce (@WarbyParker, @eightsleep, @eatmagicspoon, @DrSquatchSoapCo & more) for curated workshops and intimate conversations that actually matter.
Seeing 30 eCom operators come to @ProximaAI HQ bright and early to connect over real challenges was something special. You could feel the energy as conversations moved from surface-level introductions to deep dives into what's actually keeping people up at night.
Here are some themes that kept coming up:
→ Operational optimization: Everyone's wrestling with tech stack decisions, AI implementation, and performance media evolution.
→ TikTok: We had attendees fill out a form sharing what they're trying to accomplish on TikTok, how their brand shows up there right now, and what kind of content they're making. This interactive nature had people leaning in, asking follow-up questions, and genuinely engaged.
→ There was a palpable hunger to connect and have substantive conversations with peers. People are tired of the same big conferences and loud happy hours. Instead, they're craving more intimate gatherings and opportunities to actually talk.
On top of the great turnout, nobody left early. And person after person stopped to say: "Please let us know when this is happening next."
That's when you know you've created something people want.
Thank you to @Techweek_ by a16z, the Proxima team, and our amazing co-hosts Kate MacCabe (@FlywheelStratCo) and Jesse Rubinstein (Hello There Collective) for helping bring this vision to life.
And thank you to all the attendees who came ready to share their challenges, admit to what isn't working, and celebrate what is. You created the kind of environment where real learning happens.
More shuffles ahead 🤝
PS - We catered a full spread from Sadelle's. Where should we order from next time? 🥯

250M+ people shop through Meta every year.
Yet, brand’s shops fall short when it comes to converting them.
Here’s a 5-step playbook to get your Meta Shop in top shape:

95% of the apps we get pitched at Obvi add 0% incremental value to our business.
In eCom, the brutal reality is that nearly everybody is out to get a piece of your margin, and if you’re not careful you’ll end up with $0 in take-home profit.
We’ve had to learn this the hard way…

Alex is willing to cut people a check for any lost revenue if your test with @ProximaAI doesn’t work out.
Who else is doing this? No one.
Ashvin (CMO of @my_obvi) said something about Proxima that caught me off guard...
His exact words: "We saw the numbers come in, and to our surprise, it was actually something scalable."
We were discussing how they tested @ProximaAI audiences against Meta's broad targeting.
That "to our surprise" grabbed my attention.
I understand the skepticism. It's hard to believe that Proxima's technology can compete with Meta's Broad Targeting and Advantage Shopping Campaigns, but not only can they, they can do you one better:
Within 2 weeks, @ashvinmelwani was hitting target CPAs and outperforming their existing strategy.
But I'm not surprised—we've done this for our customers over and over again.
→ @c4energy: profitably Scaled MoM ad spend by 50% while reducing CPAs by 20%
→ @VenusetFleur: Profitably scaled ad spend +73% while cutting CPA by 29%
→ @LifeMD: Lowered Meta CPAs 20%, saved $5M in buying costs, and scaled TikTok ad spend 50%.
The data speaks for itself.
If you're thinking of testing, but don't want to commit just yet, listen up.
We've launched our new ConversionIQ feature, using advanced conversion pixel technology to send predictive & enriched first-party data back into the ad platform.
And you can test this feature against your top campaign for free with our Efficiency Guarantee (yes, we brought it back).
It's a 14 day free trial. If ConversionIQ is less efficient, we'll cut you a check for any lost revenue.
So if you're curious, apply below.

What’s working for me currently 👇👇
Cost caps + creative load.
Cost caps are peak at highest peak creative volume.
Aim for more and less “perfection” double down on winning concepts.
Goal is to fill campaigns with as many creatives as possible. This gives Meta the most opportune ability to spend at xyz cap.
Typical campaign structure at $100-200k+ in daily spend.
EVERGREEN:
ABO broken out by creative (tCPA)
CBO with winning adsets from ABO (tCPA & tROAS)
- ABO + CBO also has an evergreen adset with a winning @ProximaAI audience, & adset with 1% 180D purchase LaL.
ASC+ with winning ads from ABO (tCPA & tROAS)
ASC+ Promotion campaign (tCPA & tROAS) - 1 campaign per promo.
Let me know if this helps or if you have any questions.
DTC Twitter: Creative Testing 🚀
Cost Caps: We have so much creative that doesn't spend. Is it the bid strategy (cost caps) or does the creative just suck?
Highest Volume: Do you group creative tests by theme for higher spend?
We've been testing tons of cost caps—great efficiency but low volume.
What strategies are working for you on Meta? 👀

"Best practices" in DTC can be dangerous. Follow them blindly and you’ll hit dead ends or miss major opportunities.
“Best” doesn’t really mean “best” here. It means “common”.
Here’s how “uncommon practices” have helped us scale beyond $80M

Thrilled to share our latest case study with @lunarsolargroup 🚀
Lunar has one of the most impressive digital marketing teams that I've ever worked with – and is the growth engine behind some of the top brands in ecomm.
They pride themselves on offering clients the most cutting-edge and cost-efficient advertising services.
But as Lunar ramped up Meta for several clients, recent spikes in ad costs cut clients’ margins significantly.
In their search for a tool to help scale top-of-funnel, @KeithMartin_io (Lunar Co-Founder) reached out to @ProximaAI — and the partnership has produced some impressive outcomes for Lunar clients:
- A 63% lift in NC-ROAS
- A 49% improvement in NC-CPA
- With 20% of Meta budget allocated to AI Audiences
Our goal from day one: Make It Easy.
No code. No developer needed. Just 5 minutes is all it took to get their clients started.
Then our team handles the rest:
→ Build hyper-targeted audiences based on billions of data points
→ Analyze storefront data to isolate for purchase intent signals
→ Match those signals across our Shopper Universe to find net new customers
We know our AI Audiences work. That's why we show you with a free test.
In Keith’s words:
“The industry norm may be to run 100% of your budget on big, broad campaigns, but at Lunar, we know better than to just follow trends. Proxima’s data-enriched audiences have been key in helping our agency diversify ad spend and lower CPAs for our clients.”

This one tool has shown phenomenal performance lifts across a wide-range of accounts for us.
The best part? It’s guaranteed to improve your Meta efficiency or they’ll cover the cost of your lost revenue.
We recently launched 6 brands on Proxima’s new AI Audiences + Predictive CAPI test and it’s been crushing.
If the test doesn’t work for you, they’ll fully reimburse you for any lost revenue.
Easiest decision I’ve made all year.
Comment “adspend” and I’ll DM the link for you to learn more.

Last week I launched 35 new ads.
Only 1 hit.
Thats a 2.8% hit rate.
You know why that's ok?
Because that 1 ad ended up spending $70k profitably and become one of the top performing ads in the account.
The truth is, most of your ads are going to fail.

Had a few questions about my current scaling campaign setup:
We have 2 campaigns for scaling
1 is an ASC with all winning ads
The other is a CBO with 2 ad sets. 1 ad set completely broad. The other is loaded up with Lookalikes sourced from @proximaai’s AI Audiences.
The question I’ve been getting is: “is Proxima worth it?”
In short - their audiences use a ridiculous amount of aggregated storefront data to target high-paying, in-market shoppers with highly targeted ads.
The problem we face as we scale is Meta is going to go after the people they believe are shoppers.
Proxima gives us enhanced seed audiences built off of 65M+ high AOV shoppers and $17B+ in transaction data across thousands of eCom stores.
Obvi certainly doesn’t have access to that level of data and Meta doesn’t necessarily either.
OK, so what?
1. A surgical approach to targeting means less wasted ad spend (more data, stronger signal)
2. We’re able to spend into new high-intent audience pools that Meta hasn’t found
3. When Meta’s algo goes haywire (we’ve all been there), we hedge our bets with a consistent targeting alternative
Meaning much more efficient scaling.
To date, we have seen up to +31% higher ROAS and -26% lower CPAs.
I’m allocating a little over 60% of my ad spend to their audiences, and we’re seeing MUCH more efficient results at scale with Proxima’s audiences compared to broad:
At the end of the day, it’s not for everyone.
But if you’re spending more than $100-$200k+ a month,
I’d definitely recommend adding something like this to your tool kit.
With my campaign structure I mentioned above, you’re basically forcing your Proxima ad set to go head-to-head with your usual broad ad set, and for us it’s been consistently performing better.
Am I a #proudpartner of theirs? Yes.
Am I a paying customer? Yes.
Am I proud to share something that has helped us significantly scale our ad spend efficiently? YES.

Replying to @ThomasVdh11 @ProximaAI
I’ve spent about 6 figures north on audiences from Proxima and they are scalable and also efficient. It makes up 30-40% of my spend.
I would say it’s worth testing when you get into the 6 figures a month of ad spend.
Btw I am partner of theirs but either way I do love the product and actually use it in my entire ad strategy.

Everyone has their reasons for choosing whether or not to diversify their marketing - whether that’s your channels, creative types, audience targeting, etc.
But
By choosing to rely on a single strategy you’re exposing yourself to something known as concentration risk.
You’re at the mercy of a platform's algorithm changes, policy updates, cost surges, changes in trends…
(Not to mention extreme limitations for proper growth)
And if you do have any issues?
It only amplifies the negative effects.
This can be a huge headache.
Trust me, we’ve been there.
Of course the simple solution to this problem is to start diversifying your channels, creatives, strategies, etc.
But this process takes a lot of time and effort, especially if you’re used to approaching it in one way.
Yep - that’s huge headache #2.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s very doable on your own.
But to be honest…it sucks.
Especially when there are a thousand other things you have to do and you can’t ignore the one channel you currently have.
We figured this out early on and decided to go hunting for a solid tool that could help.
What we found exceeded all expectations…
@ProximaAI - and their data intelligence tools have been crushing it for us.
They have one of the strongest data sets in eCommerce - over 65 million high AOV shoppers and AI models that help us enrich and better understand our first-party data, as well as build custom seed audiences for paid media.
Using their AI-powered audiences and predictive analytics, we’ve been able to:
1) Scale Meta ads more efficiently and reduce our dependency on in-platform targeting (we’re running LALs on their enhanced seeds).
2) Improve retention and customer LTV with predictive signals and insights into our customers’ shopping behaviors at other stores, which has helped inform our content, creative, and ads.
3) Compare our paid media performance to our competitors with network-powered industry benchmarks and make data-driven decisions on how we can improve.
We’ve basically been able to ‘form a shield’ against concentration risk by using their insights to expand into new audiences, strategies, and channels.
Now instead of dealing with huge headache #2, we’re tapping into powerful insights from their massive data network to help us de-risk our growth strategy and scale profitably.
Goodbye stressful concentration risk, hello efficient scaling.
Listen, I may be a #proudpartner of @ProximaAI - but If your strategy resembles anything like what I mentioned at the beginning of this...
Definitely recommend you check them out.

I have 2 scale campaigns.
1 BAU with 2 active ad sets, 1 broad and 1 with @ProximaAI audiences.
1 ASC which is by nature a singular adset.
Then my testing I have anywhere from 5-10 active tests. If something doesn't get out of learning however, I cut it.
There's no ideal number just consolidate and make sure 80% of your budget is out of the learning phase as quick as possible.

It’s 2024 - and structuring accounts/how to run your ad account is STILL up for question.
What I’m not going to do is start a debate between cost caps and automatic bidding.
BUT
There is one specific thing that I’d urge you to do if you haven’t already
Go broad.
It doesn’t make sense to use interest-based targeting - all you’re doing is increasing CPMs by trying to get a little bit more targeted.
One other thing that I’d highly suggest looking into - @proximaAI
They’re taking billions of data points
And creating legitimate lookalike audiences from those data points.
This way you can stop using data that Meta thinks is going to be a lookalike audience for you
And use data that you know will work for you.
Since then, Proxima audiences make up 50% of our daily budget - definitely worth giving a shot if you’re just going broad.
If you’re looking to expand your audience
Don’t use Facebook’s native lookalike feature
Don't use interest-based targeting
Continue going broad and test using Proxima’s lookalike audiences.
If you’re curious, we’re a #ProudPartner of @proximaAI and we couldn’t be happier with the results their look-a-like campaigns have done for us these last few months.
Can’t recommend them enough
