Annual financial report for aged care sector released
Revenue in the aged care sector rose by $527 million, a 23% increase, yet the sector continues to experience daily losses per resident. Government funding for aged care reached $28 billion, with 57.5% directed towards residential care. Employee expenses climbed to $16.8 billion, driven by the push to meet care targets and the requirement for 24/7 registered nurse coverage.
Although care minutes per resident increased to 188 daily, this remains short of the 200-minute target. Meanwhile, the home care sector saw a slight decline in profitability, despite receiving increased funding and serving 20% more package recipients.
