John Liddy is one of Limerick’s most important poets. Having spent much of his life in Madrid, he has written from a distinctive perspective, bringing Irish poetry into conversation with Spanish readers.
His new bilingual collection, Spanish Points: Antología Poética, was published in Spain by the Madrid publisher Huerga y Fierro Editores and launched at the Feria del Libro de Madrid in June. Beautifully produced, this substantial volume is a remarkable achievement.
We are delighted to welcome John to Quay Books for the first reading in Ireland from the collection.

Books possess a physical beauty of their own - the paper, typography, colour - the fragrance of ink, wood and time.
On our pavement table, the books we choose and recommend come together as a changing tapestry. Displayed on small wooden easels, they are not simply books for sale, but objects to pause over and admire: almost like small works of art.
May we say - it is one of the quiet pleasures a small independent bookshop can offer — something no online listing, or few standardised chain-store displays, can quite reproduce.
Enjoy the small outdoor exhibition of books, every day at Quay Books, 11 Sarsfield Street, Limerick. V94 K330
