At the @KenyaGovernors, G7 High-Level Women Leaders Strategic meeting, themed "Catalyzing Women's Leadership for 2027 and Beyond," @AMWIK joined governors, parliamentarians, grassroots organizations, and emerging leaders in a unified push to dismantle persistent barriers to women's political empowerment ahead of Kenya's 2027 elections. The forum culminated in the signing of a landmark Joint Communiqué, a decisive blueprint committing stakeholders to collective action, strategic mentorship, and systemic reform to ensure women take their rightful place at every decision-making table. @SIDinAfrica @Sida

Why are women disappearing from Kenya’s media landscape right when they reach their peak? @AMWIK answered that question in the Status of Women in Media Report 2026, which revealed a stark "leaky pipeline" where women enter the industry in crowds but are steadily pushed out by systemic barriers. The full Status of Women in Media Report can be accessed directly on the resources section of the official AMWIK website amwik.org. #IamAMWIK

.@AMWIK is proud to join key media sector partners for the official launch of the @MediaCouncilK Strategic Plan 2026–2030 and the Guidelines for Election Coverage 2027. As we look toward the 2027 General Elections, our message is clear: 🛡️ Safety & security for all journalists, especially women practitioners is non-negotiable. 📊 Research-backed advocacy must drive industry policy and newsroom protection. 🤝 A united media front is essential to safeguarding press freedom and democracy. We call on the Government and stakeholders to support media sustainability and protect the Fourth Estate as we advocate for the safety, protection, and equal representation.
