They take on the Milwaukee Bucks who are officially rebuilding after they traded away Giannis Antetokounmpo to the heat this season and really have no good defenders on their team. In 2024 when Young last played a full season he averaged 11.6 assists per game and 24.2 points per game. He's shown glimpse of his playmaking abilities in the preseason already in his last 3 games with 7, 11 and 8 on less minutes. Last season the Bucks ranked 28th in points allowed to PG's and 24th in assists allowed to PG's. This is a great matchup for Trae Young who will look to create scoring opportunities and potential assists through the pick and roll with Anthony Davis. Don't think Ryan Rollins and Myles Turner is really going to do much here defensively. Without AJ Dybantsa ruled out for game 1 with an ankle injury Trae Young will need to step it up for the playoff hopeful Wizards. Historically we've seen Trae Young also dominate this matchup as H2H matchups he's cleared this line in 6/7 games. Fox is expected to be covered by Cason Wallace who just got a hefty extention and one of the leagues best defenders. Fox likes to push the pace in transition with his quickness, as 22% of his shots come from fast break buckets where the Thunder defend best in the league ranked #1. 50% of his shots consist of inside the paint where the Thunder have Chet Holmgren or Isaiah Hartenstein waiting for him. That duo last season held the Thunder in top 5 in paints allowed in the paint + restricted area. The Spurs are expected to insert Dylan Harper into the lineup going with 3 guards now which only is expected to reduce his role handling the ball + scoring opportunities.
