We were taught that Earth orbits the Sun in a closed circle. In reality, Earth has never returned to the same point in space once in 4.5 billion years. Right now, the Sun is carrying Earth and every planet around the center of the Milky Way at 230 km/s (828,000 km/h), more than 18,000 kilometers every 80 seconds. Because the Solar System is tilted 60.2° to the galactic plane and bobs up and down through the galactic disc roughly every 30 million years, the planets trace open 3D corkscrew helices across deep space rather than flat loops. The last time the Sun stood where it stands today, one Galactic Year (230 million years) ago, the very first dinosaurs were only beginning to appear on Earth. Since forming 4.6 billion years ago, our Sun has completed only 20 laps.

My own Huan, Zeus, from many years ago. I have an unusual bond with Akitas. Maybe from having been “puppies” together with my uncle’s Akita Sunny. Maybe sharing a birthday with the legendary Hachiko. Whatever it is, I love this breed.

SF VCs: > "Hardtech requires too much VC capital" > Invests $1 trillion dollars into prediction market gamble-gooning company @jimbelosic : > Says he never aimed to build a company and play financial games > Does ~$200M in annual revenue before raising any VC money > Once he raises, says his favorite use of venture dollars is "helping employees buy homes, start families, and move up from a bicycle to a car" Be like Jim.
Around 2016, Jim Belosic bought a $750,000 laser cutter on a whim. This month, his company SendCutSend raised $140 million and hit a valuation of $2.1 billion. It's on track to make 50 million metal parts this year for more than 300,000 customers. This is the story of how SendCutSend arrived and ended up reviving US industry. corememory.com/p/sendcutsend…

One of the greatest framings of death (high overlap with Christianity) can be found in the gift of men from Tolkiens legendarium Men are blessed with death - and subsequent reuniting to God. Morgoth and Sauron (Satan) sought to subvert this ultimate blessing by having us fear it

The primary imperfection in the LoTR trilogy is the Arwen and Aragorn story - the departure from the tale of Beren and Lúthien retold in a later age.

Boromirs death is one of the saddest scenes in film to watch - and at least as bad to read Yet it is a glorious one of full redemption and everything happened exactly as intended There is a lesson there

This but LoTR themed in my future please. With a large gun room, large historical weaponry room, and large wine cellar off of it. Gondorian or High Elven styling is the real question
I think we all owe our game rooms an apology

The soldiers chanting "DEATH!" is really significant here. Eru originally gave death to humans as a gift, so they could enjoy their time on Arda. However, Morgoth twisted this, making man fear death, so they coveted the immortality of the elves. Here, they scream it out in defiance of Morgoth and his servants, saying they do not fear it, and that now Morgoth, Sauron, and the darkness they wield have no power over them.
What movie has the greatest action scene of all time?

The Lord of the Rings is the greatest epic ever written. And the extended editions are as close to cinematic perfection, for me, as I have seen, or likely ever will see.

Scientists found a way to flush Alzheimer’s plaque out of the brain in minutes. Without any surgery and drugs. Your brain has a waste-clearance network called the glymphatic system. It flushes out toxic proteins and dead cells. But it only really activates during deep, slow-wave sleep. If you don't sleep, the trash piles up. Over time, that buildup leads to cognitive decline and Alzheimer's. Until today. Researchers just published a paper proving they can manually trigger this cleaning cycle. Without you ever going to sleep. They used 40.68 MHz ultrashort waves (USW) beamed non-invasively into the brain. Within 10 minutes, the brain's fluid flow rapidly accelerated. The waves artificially synchronized the neurons into a Delta state, the exact frequency of deep sleep. This forced the brain's water channels to open and start flushing out the system. They tested it on mice with traumatic brain injuries and Alzheimer's pathology. The brain swelling dropped. The toxic proteins were cleared out. Cognitive deficits actually improved. No surgery. No massive chemical interventions. Just a frequency.
