10 months ago I quit my job.
I didn’t get fired. I was the best they had.
I just got tired of putting in more than I received, and I knew I could do better.
So I left.
It was my first time building a SaaS in 7 years.
I built an AI video editor that keeps people watching longer.
It reached 2k MAU.
shipped the premiere pro extension for autoeditor.
the reason was simple.
pros don't want a web link.
they want the cuts inside their timeline.
day 25 of the same cycle.
limits doubled.
nobody cares.
i shipped a gaming lane for autoeditor this week.
cuts loading screens automatically.
the startup twitter economy is just a circular trade.
founder a builds tool.
founder b buys tool.
founder c tweets "i finally found a solution".
this is crazy asf😳
a year ago I was self writing code
now ai helps me build all my apps
I’ve also been going viral on TikTok
just from posting me lip sing my favorite songs
Life’s good honestly
working on a survey popup for my app
while listening to some Travis porter
music while I build is essential
founders.
stop relying just on x for distribution
learn seo, content marketing, paid ads, anything other than just x
just a month ago Onlyfoundrs was doing 2 users a day
Now it does 90 a day
All because I stopped trying to distribute on x
And posted about it on hackernews which is where my target icp hangs at aswell.
we all knew the iPhone duo was gonna flop
let’s be real
- iPhone Duo is a flop
- MacBook touchscreen is a flop
- Apple homeview is useless
- AirPods are the same in years
- iPhones are the same in years
I want to give Apple money. A lot of money. They just don’t want it.
Why aren’t they going all in on the Vision Pro? Or a tiny portable device? Or just… AI?
The future of computers isn’t a device with a flat touchscreen and a keyboard.
Steve would agree, I think.
800 mau in just a month is crazy.
distribution has become a huge problem for founders + indiehackers
so I built a platform for it
-founder lists their product free
-when users come to site looking for new tools etc
AI recommends them the best candidate product for their need in that moment
Had no idea so many people wanted something like this
this has been the hardest 72 hrs of my life
bugs really can be a pain
especially if your using a cheap model to fix it😭
good thing I was a software engineer tho
or my app would’ve been toast
agentic SaaS is cool.
but it is not cheap.
especially if your getting 90 users a day🤦🏾♂️
honestly gonna start looking at angel investors soon
last night i had to dismantle my entire proprieatry piplien for Autoeditor
just to fix a bug.
I found out it was legacy code basically gating the new code.
i probably shouldn't say this.
but for the past 72 hrs i ran into a huge problem
you still can't go fully ai with software
why?
because ai still doesn't listen very, unless your very detailed
it's just the truth..
it's still unpredictable at times
so until ai is fully capable of being able to "behave"
i wouldn't go fully on agentic just yet
the "editable layers" part is the actual moat here
type to edit is a demo, type to edit without losing the timeline is a product
agentic tools keep trying to replace the editor instead of sitting next to it. the moment i can't nudge a keyframe i stop trusting the ai
