Finally finished fragile juggernaut, @RADIO_CIO I know I’ll be back a few more times in the coming years.
Difficult to overstate how pressing this feels right now, and how vital it is for the post-2020 (Bernie/BLM) generation of basebuilders to absorb its lessons.

In the spring of 1933, teachers in Chicago led sickouts, staged demonstrations by the thousands, and occupied banks to demand that they meet their obligations to pay back their missing paychecks. These actions set in motion the formation of @CTULocal1

Some sage advice from the southern textile strike-wave of 1934:
“Stay woke. Keep your eyes open.” - Lead Belly
The Scottsboro Boys, nine Black teens falsely accused of raping two white women in 1931, were sentenced to death. NAACP forced repeated retrials. They were finally freed but never recovered.
The first documented use of the phrase “stay woke” happened in the 1930s when Lead Belly ended his song about the Scottsboro Boys by advising Black folk traveling through Alabama to “stay woke.”
The term “woke" was created by Black people referring to being alert to systemic racial injustices. #BlackHistoryWithLana #Fresh

I'm almost done the Fragile Juggernaut podcast about the CIO and it's been wonderful to learn about labour history but a great part is hearing stuff like a Pete Seeger song about price controls or old recordings of activists.

It's here: the inaugural issue of @phenomenalworld, on American Power in the age of Trump, has just been published online.
Featuring essays on Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, Brazil, China and the Gulf, plus Tim Barker's sweeping history of 'declinisms'.
