Let us continue to pray together for peace. The day after tomorrow, on 27 October, let us join in spirit with the heads of churches and religious leaders who will gather in Assisi to mark the 40th anniversary of the meeting convened by Saint John Paul II. Never before has it been so clear that wars, as well as sowing death and destruction, impoverish and harm the world. May the Lord inspire choices of dialogue and peace! #PrayTogether

Today we celebrated 150 years since the parish was founded. @RCBirmingham +Bernard was the main celebrant, joined by Abbot Nicholas from @downsideabbey (now residing with @BelmontAbbeyUK), & clergy who have connections to the parish. A wonderful Mass followed by reception. 🙏

Jesus didn't turn away from those society rejected. He spent time with them, showed compassion and invited them to follow him.
Who might God be calling you to reach out to today?
Save this reflection for your next quiet time.

ALT A colourful meadow filled with orange, purple, blue and white wildflowers forms the background of a Bible Society reflection graphic. White text over a dark translucent panel features Mark 2.17 (NIV): ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but those who are ill. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.’ The reflection explores how Jesus welcomed those considered outcasts, challenging readers to examine their attitudes towards others and consider who they could share the good news with. The Bible Society logo appears at the bottom.

“Beneath the armor that so many teenagers build around themselves to avoid suffering lies the desire to love and be loved,” Pope Leo XIV said on October 22 to participants in the International Congress for Pastoral Care in Schools and Universities, taking place at the Vatican.
In his address he urged those present to encourage young people and help them “become protagonists of a new way of inhabiting the world, builders of fraternity and of a more just society.”

St John Paul II believed young people were capable of great things — and he wasn't afraid to challenge them.
