Hilary Plum: "Elizabeth Koch writes (I am starting to think Elizabeth Koch writes like Ivanka Trump dresses) about how she’d like books she publishes to “bring attention to the false divisions that make up our world.”

HP: "She can’t seem to see that these divisions are political—not a side effect of political discourse (“politics can be so divisive”) but what actors in the political sphere, including her father, have brutally wrought."

Wikipedia, which went online in January, 2001, is now the greatest compendium of human knowledge ever assembled. Yet in the last four years, it has lost 25 per cent of its traffic—more than a billion monthly visitors. Since the site recruits its editors from its audience, this dip also threatens its growth and quality. Many users have been intercepted by A.I. “It’s a cruelly ironic fate,” Julian Lucas writes. Wikipedia was the single most important training corpus in the history of artificial intelligence. Now artificial intelligence is threatening its survival. As a longtime admirer of Dennis Tedlock's work, who was both the McNulty Professor and a founder of the Poetics program at Buffalo, this is rather sad news
Solidarity with grad students at Buffalo Poetics, who have released a website detailing the program’s recent hostile takeover. Unfortunately, they’re being treated like many grad students are, given contradictory info from faculty & admin, then being kicked out of discussions.

The dean wants to see "good behavior" on the part of the Poetics Program before it gets and new hires and a restoration of funding. What can "good behavior" possibly mean in this context? Does he want a program for "well behaved" poets that will genuflect to UB's Empire A.I.?
What's happening with the UB Poetics Program: A Timeline of the last 3 months. If this trajectory continues, the Robert Creeley Centenary events in the Buffalo poetry *community* that Creeley lived in this past May will have been the final events in the history of the program.

The @UBuffalo College of Arts and Sciences leadership may have been asleep at the wheel for the past few years but it's not too late for the new dean (and new president) to wake up and fix this mess. Just fill the empty Poetics chairs. Not hard, not complicated, not expensive.

UB is implementing Empire A.I across the curriculum, but dismantling the UB Poetics Program, arguably one the most influential programs over the past half century in American poetry and certainly the leading program to focus on innovation and poetics as practice.
