We took a little break from our socials recently but we are back! If you aren't signed up to our newsletter and daily updates page then you aren't seeing our website safeguarding round up posts that bring you daily information and updates. Here's our most recent one to start us off 🚨 Safeguarding Round-Up Violence against women and girls, online exploitation, Prevent and recurring safeguarding failures- there's plenty for safeguarding professionals to reflect on this week. Our latest RLB Safeguarding Ltd Round-Up brings together significant new developments alongside recently published research and guidance relevant to organisations working with children and adults. 🔹 Violence Against Women and Girls: A new national assessment highlights the role of repeat perpetrators, domestic abuse and technology-facilitated harm. 🔹 Prevent: Updated guidance for NHS mental health services replaces previous guidance from 2017, with important implications for recognising concerns, referrals and information sharing. 🔹 Learning from Serious Safeguarding Reviews: The Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel has identified 10 persistent themes, including professional curiosity, information sharing, understanding childrens lived experiences and cases becoming stuck. 🔹 Online Sexual Exploitation: New Internet Watch Foundation findings reveal concerning levels of sexual extortion affecting children, particularly boys. 🔹 Childrens Online Safety: Research from Ofcom and Internet Matters explores online gaming risks, contact with strangers and young childrens earliest digital experiences. 🔹 Children's Rights: Updated statutory guidance reinforces the importance of advocacy and ensuring children and young people can raise concerns and have their voices heard. 🔹 Homelessness and Safeguarding: New research identifies 1,720 deaths among people experiencing homelessness in 2025, including 51 children. 🔹 Education: Ofsted has announced a pilot independent complaints review service. We've also highlighted updated guidance on kinship care, parental substance use and mental health, ADHD and autism but what really stands out to me is how familiar some of the safeguarding lessons are. Information not shared. Concerns considered in isolation. Childrens voices overlooked. Cases drifting without meaningful intervention. We continue to see these themes emerging in serious safeguarding reviews. So perhaps the question isnt whether we know what good safeguarding looks like. Its whether were consistently putting that knowledge into practice. What do you think is the biggest barrier to turning safeguarding learning into meaningful change- organisational culture, resources, professional confidence or something else? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Read the full RLB Safeguarding Round-Up here: rlbsafeguarding.co.uk/blog/s… Safeguarding people of all ages, in all places.
