Jan 2025: Trump was asked about working with the Conservative leader and responded:“Certainly it will be very good. Our views would be more aligned, certainly.”
Mar 2025: Trump said: “I'd rather deal with a liberal than a conservative.”
Jan-Feb 2026: Financial Times and Reuters described meetings between representatives of the Alberta Prosperity Project (APP), which advocates Alberta independence, and U.S. State Department officials in Washington.
Oct 2026: Bessent on Alberta separation: “I think we should let them come down into the U.S. Alberta is a natural partner for the U.S.,"
In addition to Trump and his administration repeatedly calling for annexing Canada !!!
Interference is not limited to Canada. Trump publicly supporter candidates in other countries: he advocated for Flavio Bolsonaro in Brazil’s elections earlier this month, endorsed former Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orban ahead of his election loss in April, and lately supported Netanyahu in Israel’s upcoming elections.

California and Alaska are closer to having a majority for secession than Alberta.
Alaska would be a great addition to Canada, so Carney and the Canadian government should encourage them to go ahead.
Putting aside the debate of whether we should remain within the monarchy or not (which I respect), as long as you're WITHIN Canada, you should follow Canadian rules.
If Quebec becomes independent, or Canada relinquishes the monarchy, then fine not to do this...
