Virtually all of the slopulist right "influencers" in Canada were on Team One BC, which won 1% of the vote.
They set their hair on fire when the BC Conservatives decided to stabilize themselves as a mainstream centre-right party at the beginning of the campaign.
As with the Alberta referendum, this is yet more evidence that these so-called influencers have no influence, and should be broadly ignored by sensible, principled Canadian conservatives.
A lot of the recent drama on the right in BC came from a crazy right populist splinter party, @One_BCHQ.
Made up of self styled “real conservatives” with the usual assortment of weird obsessions & conspiracy theories: vaccines, ostrich farms, chem trails, xenophobia, MAGA North, all communicated with the volume nob stuck on 10.
Basically the BC counterpart of hard core Alberta separatist activists, or Bernier’s @peoplespca.
Tonight they’re at 1.4% of the vote, after two years of being a hugely divisive distraction on the right of BC politics.
Yet another reminder to Conservative parties: ignore the crazy fringe of the hard populist right. Don’t let the tail wag the dog. Let them stay in their little fringe parties.
Being a principled conservative party does not mean pandering to incoherent, perennially angry populism. Instead, propose bold, thoughtful policy reforms rooted in conservative principles that appeal to the broad mainstream. Just like the @Conservative_BC did in this winning campaign.

It was such a pleasure to serve on Pavneet’s campaign. The team around him is strong, dedicated and hardworking. He’s a good man and I’m looking forward to four years of a Conservative government in BC.

Lost in the victory laps are the many staff across BC who lost their jobs as a result of this election. Many of them are non-partisan and served their constituents with integrity. I’m thinking of them today…

Can we finally agree that Wyatt Claypool and his band of merry “influencers” are the worst political operatives in Canada?
That was the best main campaign I’ve seen and it made the work of the local campaigns easier. My gratitude and appreciation to @katy_merrifield and all the HQ team!

Have you noticed how quiet some of the so-called conservative influencers have been about the Conservative victory in British Columbia?
No applause. No celebration.
Some even went so far as to call the B.C. Conservatives “left-wing.”
You would think people who champion conservatism would welcome a Conservative victory.
It makes you wonder: is their enthusiasm driven by conservative principles, or does it require a paycheque?

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
I've spent this campaign encouraging Vancouver-Yaletown to raise its expectations of government.
Now it's my job to meet them!

I have sent personal congratulations to our newly elected Premier, @LDoerkson on his historic victory.
I am hopeful that under his leadership British Columbians will see the changes to how our province is governed that I, and so many others, have long advocated for.

Thank you, British Columbia.
Tonight, you voted for change. You voted for a government that will listen, keep life affordable, and never take your hard-earned money for granted.
I want to thank every volunteer who knocked on doors, made calls, and put up signs in the rain. I want to thank our candidates, who stepped forward in a snap election with no time to spare. And I want to thank my wife Shelley and my family for standing beside me every step of the way.
To those who didn’t vote for us: I will work just as hard for you. This is your government too.
The work starts now. Let’s get to it.
