Happy Texas Independence Day VOTE Love your neighbors, treat all w respect & humility Protect nature, preserve what we have for future generations Follow science, stay curious "Texas has yet to learn submission to any oppression, come from what source it may” -Sam Houston
On this Texas Independence Day, we commemorate the spirit and resilience of Texans. The “Republic of Texas Legation Memorial Act” which I successfully authored in 2020, honors the historic delegation of Texans who came to Washington as diplomats to negotiate our joining the Union. It will serve as a celebration of the Texan spirit here in our nation’s capital.

People across America & TX are getting their freedoms & rights stripped & trampled. PermRes green-cards, refugees, asylum seekers, migrant workers who play by the rules & contribute. Even American Citizens. I was already mad when it was strangers, but now it happened to a friend

American conservatives are constantly bemoaning the decline of aesthetic standards and calling for a return to classical Roman architecture, but are now forced to defend the Cheesecake Factory. A constant tension between the Brooks Brothers patrician and the Kid Rock populist.

Who will be the first pro-pickleball candidate?
Someone made a site that tracks what people are talking about at public city council meetings across the US. The only thing discussed more than data centers? Pickleball courts.

"the white house should look like the place where i order asian chicken nachos because otherwise how will working-class americans know they're respected." listen to yourself.
The coastal elites hate Americana. We know what they really think, and we know why they are so quickly defending Obama’s snobbery. They might think they are “too good” for the Cheesecake Factory, or find the decor to be tacky, but most regular Americans don’t

A Texas Democrat from the Austin area wins a hotly contested statewide primary, then runs in an open seat race against a deeply flawed Republican millionaire opponent who runs one of the worst campaigns in modern history. The race becomes extraordinarily negative, and sets national records for spending. The Democrat wins by 2.5 points. Texas flips blue. The year is 1990.

So when Black and Hispanic precincts start outpacing white ones in early voting, that’s the system breaking. When a Republican county gets a front-row seat to what 287(g) does to its own neighbors, and its own business owners start yelling at the mayor, that’s a crack. When Texans leave their “I voted” stickers where ICE shot a man, that’s a message. open.substack.com/pub/lonest… Mississippi might not flip this year. But the people who built the system were counting on us to stay home forever, and that’s the one thing that isn’t happening. Six days left. Go vote.

When people say that if you taxed Elon's wealth, he'd have to sell stocks to pay his taxes on unrealized gains, and I say, "So what?" I could scour the heavens above and the depth of the ocean. I could search every alternate universe and timeline in the Marvel Universe. And there is nowhere that I could find a hoot to give about Elon's problem if he had to sell some stock to pay his taxes. None. If people have their property seized to pay for taxes on the rising price of their property, then I am utterly and completely empty of hoots for Elon having to sell some stocks. Especially since every human being without pudding for brains knows that he wouldn't have to sell stocks. He'd just take out a loan, like he did when he needed cash to buy Twitter. Or like he does when he tries to buy US Senators in Texas. If he can try to own the government, he can help pay for it. I could not possibly be more hootless about what problems that may present to him.

People are working hard and still can’t pay the bills. Small businesses are struggling to make payroll. Truckers are getting crushed at the pump. Folks are tired. They have every right to be. They deserve leaders who take the cost of living seriously.

🚨 Today and tomorrow are your last chances to vote early! I’m a farmer from Union Parish, and I’m running to send Mike Johnson home and put working people first. If you’re ready for that change, I’d be honored to earn your vote. #LA4

Gina is going to overperform in key demographics, and that's what outside observers are missing. I expect Talarico to be the top Dem vote-getter as top of the ticket with more money, but the gap between them will be smaller than people expect. It's an uphill climb for Dems in Texas, but @GinaHinojosaTX is going to have a great story to tell after this. #txlege #txsen
A Texas voter on 2Way said she is going to vote for Paxton for senate but undecided on the governors race. Sounds like there could be some Paxton/Hinojosa voters to some extent even if it’s not as much as polls are saying

Fox News is putting Nicki Minaj up telling people to vote red. Let’s break that down. Can Nicki Minaj vote? No. She’s not a U.S. citizen. Can Nicki Minaj’s husband vote? No, he’s a registered sex offender. Can Nicki Minaj’s brother vote? No, he’s serving 25 years to life for child sexual assault. She seems like the perfect spokesperson for MAGA republicans.

The bread and butter of MAGA is IDF . . . Ignorance, Division, and Fear. Take gullible people, persuade them that all of they’re problems are because of “them” (take your pick — black, brown, gay, trans, Muslim, Jewish, female, educated, progressive, etc), and incite the rabble with dire warnings that they’re in an existential battle and on the side of righteousness. You can see that con job taking place in the Michigan senate race. Trump and other MAGA minions are trying to smear Abdul El-Sayed by branding him as a Muslim Brotherhood jihadist. Trump likes to refer to former President Obama as Barack Hussein Obama . . . and you know why. It’s the same reason he refers to El-Sayed as Mohammed Abdul El-Sayed. Funny that you never hear Trump refer to Dr. Oz (Muslim) as Mehmet Cengiz Oz or Kash Patel (Hindu) as Kashyap Pramod Patel. So, what is the claim that El-Sayed is a Muslim Brotherhood jihadist primarily based on? In 2012, El-Sayed’s half-sister posted that she had a talk with her mother about her mother’s involvement in the 70s with the Muslim Brotherhood. El-Sayed’s parents divorced when he was three and he lived with his father and eventual stepmother (who is a descendant of Abagail Adams). His half-sister was born later after his mother remarried. El-Sayed denies any involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood and has denounced it, says he never discussed it with his mother, and notes that he didn’t live with his mother after the age of three. The biggest supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood is the government of Qatar, where exiled members of the Brotherhood have been welcomed in for over a half-century. Qatar provides funding, safe haven, and media support for the Brotherhood, and it’s also a major supporter of Hamas. In addition to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas, Qatar also supports Donald Trump. The new Air Force One Trump enjoys showing off — his flying Sky Palace — was a 400 million-dollar gift from the Muslim Brotherhood-supporting government of Qatar. So, decide for yourself who has the closest ties to Muslim extremists and should have no place in our government.

They aren't arguing about the tacky decorations at the White House, which was the point, you'll notice. They're defending Cheesecake Factory, a corporate conglomerate started in Beverly Hills. 🤣
Sorry Barrack Hussein @BarackObama, Cheesecake Factory has good food and it’s a place Americans can afford. We can’t all be like you and big Mike. You know, with private 5 star chefs who end up drowning and dying while naked in 2 feet of water at our Martha’s Vineyard mansions.

Two things: 1) @ZachWLambert is a wonderful human and pastor who loves Jesus deeply. 2) Be the kind of Christian that charlatans like @howertonjosh call “heretics.”
Replying to @mattvanswol
That is not a pastor, that is a Biblically-defined false teacher and historically-defined heretic that (it saddens me to say) we had to excommunicate and remove from our church planting network. He currently walks as an enemy of the faith, and I pray he comes back to Jesus Christ.
