Zelensky wants a freeze to the conflict, followed by “security guarantees” for Ukraine. So basically, time for Ukraine to rearm, then NATO troops on its soil. It's insane anyone would expect Moscow to accept that. As an American, I wouldn't want Russian troops in Canada to guarantee its security... So why should Russia accept Western troops in Ukraine?

Russia is being asked to accept a deal that offers little it doesn't already have, while leaving the door open to Ukraine becoming a de facto NATO member. Donbass? Russia has it in the bag. Militarily and by popular vote. So why the hell would Moscow accept a deal that leaves the West free to turn Ukraine into the very threat Russia went to war to prevent?
