Seeing aspiring artists attack a well respected and established illustrator is doing so much harm to their careers and they don’t even know. Being a good artist is half the job. Being someone people want to work with is the other half. When those who hire see you tearing down other artists for their prices and then accusing them of AI, we blacklist you. You reveal your red flags. Art is a community. Tearing down others is not how you get ahead. In life or art.

Things changing throughout the painting process is pretty normal as you spend time with an image and make decisions. Especially if you don't do your due diligence early on in the process. This is from 2017-18, when I would foolishly rush through the sketch phase.

I am staunchly against gen ai and would never use it for my art. I even lost a steady job this year because the pushed everyone into using AI and I refused at significant financial harm. I hope this timelapse helps you understand I do not use AI. youtu.be/jhdQXRVUwv4

Tip for people who use VGen, if you pay or receive by VGen Payments it holds the money until after the artist finishes the work or when the client chooses to release the funds. I really like using it for those reasons, it feels like there's more help with accountability.

To be honest I feel like part of the problem is that it's become normalised to pay the entire commission fee up front. I've found that artists who let you pay half up front and the other half when the drawing is done are infinitely more likely to actually do the damn art.

If you're a content creator who relies heavily on discourse to drive engagement, it's probably because you don't make good content. You only know how to divide people instead of bringing them together. Hope this helps.
