#COP26 is not about climate. It's about asset stripping middle and working classes through the vehicle of carbon reduction. All it will achieve is poverty and enslavement

I find these facts on the NEETs crisis truly shocking.
In parts of England, youth unemployment is worse than in Bulgaria or Slovenia.
A third of 16-24 year olds who aren’t in education are also not employed.
This week, the Government has got to tackle the moral crisis of youth unemployment in the Budget. Abolishing employers’ NICs for under-25s should be the first step. Only by reducing employment costs for businesses, especially SMEs, can we give young people the chance they deserve.

We're past insulting voters here.
Where are the journalists taking this clownish caricature to task?

An oldie but a goodie. In 1968 a bunch of entitled hippy bastards sent a letter detailing their specious demands to the Warden and Fellows of Wadham College, Oxford. This was their letter of reply, which speaks to how far the academy has since fallen.

Brutal chart.
France and UK vs. Communist countries at their peak.
UK public spending as % of GDP is currently above Romania, Venezuela and China.
And France is a lost cause.

FT comments never miss.
I don’t think I’ve read such a rational analysis of the situation we’re in for a long time.
I've been in France since 2002 and have never seen the streets so violent nor the politics so extreme. From the sacking of the supermarket on my street to the prospect of Présidente Le Pen, here's me @FT including thoughts from 2 French Nobel laureates as.ft.com/r/addcad57-0f9d-4e…
are we reopening Grangemouth and repurposing the Wilton site to make Diesel, then? With which feedstock? Rosebank? Excellent!
Wait, what do you mean we don't produce and refine anything!!!!???????
John Healey has drawn up plans to announce a “green tax” on imported fuel in next week’s Budget, prompting fears that petrol prices could rise, The Telegraph can reveal.

This is as ignorant - or malevolent - as it gets.
Nope, that’s not how taxes and price works. The price is determined by demand and supply.
Companies charge the highest price they can given demand. A tax levied on *profits* does not affect a company’s cost ie supply.
Taxes on *windfall* profits (like oil and gas) are the most efficient kind of tax there is.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Corporate profit taxes do not directly shift marginal costs but empirical studies show partial pass-through into higher consumer prices. Windfall taxes on oil and gas have deterred investment and production in practice despite theoretical efficiency on rents.

If you don't move the entirety of your salaried income in one shot the day you get paid, these days you are a moron.
That's what it's come to. Move it out, commit all on pay day and leave the account at zero at all time and do all spending on credit cards leaving zero balance

It is funny that as Baroness Fox patiently set out a case for the dangers of poorly-socialised young people in Western society, the BBC had an oversized child sat by her to roll its eyes, sigh and interrupt every few seconds.
My attempt at discussing what has driven violent riots & wanton destruction in France (not without interruption). I was also reacting to unhelpfully labelling Kemi Badenoch's mention of challenges of migration y'day, as a Trump-like dog whistle #PoliticsLive

This is clearly insane.
A charity set up to maintain London’s bridges is sitting on £1.5 BILLION, funding political campaigns and giving £1.1m to a group with links to a charity now under investigation over alleged Hamas connections.
Meanwhile, Hammersmith Bridge is still closed and other Thames crossings are crumbling.
What on earth are @cityoflondon doing?

Sadly this now reads like a suicide note. You were revered for making nerdy RPG games for people who want to stop thinking about the real world. I fear GTAVI could make the same mistake.
They call me a cynic for observing that we are Rome in circa 450 AD. I Always wondered if they saw it coming.
Of all the things that have been hardest to communicate in my life, this seems the most impossible: that our civilisation is not, by some law of nature, immortal. It has no right or likelihood to continue existing if it insists on committing harakiri.
The people who are welcomed onto our airwaves, work in parts of our government and lead some of our political parties include those who would burn down this country in a heart-beat. They would look us in the eyes and kill us. And we know that because they have done it elsewhere.
They don't do it at the moment because the time is not right. But when they feel it is, they will act. At which point I suppose people will have to decide whether they wish to be spectators at their own funeral pyre or not.

Every private sector budget board meeting happening now ( I am going to one as I write) is about how to cut 20 to 30% of workforce within 2 years maximum.
Good job public sector pay rises are 2x private sector.
