For a solo dev, 1 month of full-time game dev work is equivalent to 5-6 months of part time, not the 2-3 months people naively assume.
This basic fact isn't hard for experienced solo devs to understand, but it sure seems hard for non devs.
What does this mean? Simple. If a game needs 6-8 months more of full time work, you're are looking at 2-3 years (5x) part-time, and the chances of project death increase to 500%.
This is why game devs need stable funding, so they can maintain flow and work full-time on their game.
