President Obama: "I accused this administration, based on the facts, that they were engaging in unprecedented levels of corruption. They didn’t say anything about that. The president wasn't even mad about the Saddam Hussein comparison. That part didn't bother him. But he was very upset about the Cheesecake Factory comments … They mobilized a whole of government response to that joke."

Alex Pretti's father: Our son was shot and killed by the government, federal immigration agents, on January 24th, 2026. We learned about his death from the media as we saw him being shot repeatedly in the back after helping a woman from his community. This was not a protest that Alex was at. His hands were in the air, and his face was on the ground when he was executed by ICE agents. We know exactly what our eyes saw. No one from the federal government called us on that day. But they did go on TV to tell lies about Alex. No one has called us since. No one has recanted those lies.
I'm on a mission to never click on one of those long form "meaningful" life story posts again. It's a small mission.

Dolores Huerta, 1966:
The workers are on the rise. There will be strikes all over the state and throughout the country, because the workers have shown that they are no longer alone. On behalf of the National Farm Workers Association, we unconditionally demand that the governor call a special session to enact a collective bargaining law for the farm workers of California. We will be satisfied with nothing less. If the rules to settle our economic problems are not forthcoming, we will call on a general strike. The social and economic revolution of the farm workers is well underway, and it will not be stopped until we receive equality.

Just a casual reminder that Germans who “didn’t bother to vote” in 1932 didn’t get a chance again until 1946, after Hitler’s death. — There’s a lesson there.

Reliable estimates vary by methodology and assumptions. A July 2025 Lancet study projected over 14 million excess deaths by 2030 (uncertainty 8.5-19.7 million), including 4.5 million children under 5, from an 83% USAID cut, based on historical mortality reductions. Center for Global Development analyses of 2025 spending put annual lives lost at 500,000-1.6 million. Boston University’s Impact Counter estimated 750,000-781,000 deaths in the first year. Actual totals remain uncertain due to disrupted data and other factors.
