Before this, the only thing I knew about the development of the Toei anime was that Kakudou had also been called to work on the movie that was a part of the Toei Anime Fair, but he declined because he had already started working on the Digimon Adventure TV series.

Besides that, the movie also got a higher rating than Hosoda's Digimon at that time (There were complaints about the Digimon movie that even made children cry), so when they gave Hosoda another chance with what became Our War Game, he went in a totally different direction

Before working on Digimon Adventure, Director Kakudou was in charge of the first Yu-Gi-OH! anime at Toei. There haven't been many interviews about that time and the transition from the Toei Anime and Duel Monsters, so this whole thing was a big surprise to me.

Another curious thing is that the Western version removed the Digimon World branding that was used in both Card Battle and Card Arena, which had direct story connections. Quite funny, considering that they later forced Digimon World into completely unrelated games.
I always found the "Digital Card Battle x Digital Card Arena" situation strange. I understand how long ago in Final Fantasy the Western numbering changed due to unreleased titles. But this isn't "Digimon Card 1 and 2", so why did they give the sequel the previous game's name?

This is like if Bandai had announced "Digimon World Re: Digitize" was going to be released in the West, but then that was just the name they decided to give to Digimon World Next 0rder for no reason at all.

In Digimon World, Jijimon asked the player if they had a Digital Monster. In the English version, released after the anime, they changed it to a Digivice. Funny enough, in Digital Card Battle, the protagonist actually gets a Digivice, said to be proof of the legendary hero.

There's no connection, but what makes this funny to me is that Digital Card Battle was never released outside of Japan, so a game with the Matrix of the Digimon World protagonist actually having a Digivice, as said in the American version, was never actually released there.

"I couldn't go by the name Rosemon in that Matrix" "It might seem foolish, but as a Lady, I do have something you would call pride" I find it curious that although Babamon's profile is open enough that most interpret that Rosemon's body became Babamon, that wasn't the case.
Replying to @RavelMonte
Another interesting parallel is the role of Rosemon. In Card Battle, Rosemon herself is the manager of the Digital World who, after her original body was corrupted, had to transfer her soul to a Babamon's matrix and started using that name.

They existed independently; Rosemon's curse limited her body, making it unusable, so Rosemon borrowed a Babamon model for a while. Since it was Babamon's origin, I assume that was the original concept, which became broader when they wrote the profile.

I find Card Battle's Babamon intro very funny when compared with Digimon World. "This is a world where Digimon fight with cards. No need to overthink; it's just a strange, strange world." "You'll inhabit this young boy's body; it doesn't matter if you are an old man or a girl".
I remember watching Digimon World gameplay when I was young and always finding the inside of Mugen Mountain, a bizarre space of terrain wireframe, interesting. I like that Card Battle actually explored a bit of what that place really was; the Digital World's System Area.

In Card Arena, they went with the opposite situation. Here, Rosemon is the one whose matrix is being used by someone else, as she is temporarily inhabited by the Digital World's security system. After the main story, you can actually find the original Rosemon.

I think it's a surprising change because after years of the Royal Knights constantly residing in the same realm as Yggdrasill and the Angels (Even if stories showing it were few, I think only Xros Wars manga did it), having stories now directly state the opposite is strange.

What I think is even stranger is that they actually let Jupitermon and Junomon reside in the System Area equivalent of Iliad, meaning the Olympos XII and its relatives cover almost everywhere in Iliad, while the Royal Knights don't anymore in Yggdrasill. What really happened?
