Thank you Hoboken & Jersey City! We truly did it! For now all I will simply say is I am deeply honored to be your Democratic Party nominee — along with @katiebrennan_32 — for Assembly! We look forward to working hand in hand with fellow Democrats to secure victory in November.

Fully agree @AudreyTruschke !
Mamdani has done more than any politician in recent memory to advance the visibility of Hinduism in America. It’s beautiful to see. And it is a recipe others can replicate — Embrace diversity, steer far clear of Hindutva, and joyfully & openly participate.

Our kids deserve to go to school freely and without fear of being questioned by masked federal agents. This dystopian scene in North Bergen is just the latest in ICE's streak of lawlessness and violation of our rights. As a parent, I fear for the families of North Bergen who experienced infringement on their rights. It could have easily been any of our children who may not fit the description of what this administration considers "American". If the federal government seeks to attack our freedom here in New Jersey, then it's up to us at the state level to protect our rights and defend our communities. We need to take every precaution at the local and state level to prevent this from continuing to happen.
“The ongoing presence of masked ICE agents in our community is continuing to cause widespread fear and outrage among North Bergen residents,” North Bergen officials said. Read more here 👉 mrf.lu/2bb_n

I am horrified by the mass shooting attempt at a Hindu temple in Aurora, IL today. This was not random. The would-be shooter wrote a manifesto full of white supremacist hate aimed at the Hindu community. That hate is real, it is growing, and it must be named and confronted. It's the same anti-Indian hatred and fear-mongering being spread at the highest levels of our federal government by the president and his white supremacist advisers. Talk of the "third world" and "Great Replacement" conspiracy stokes the flames of hatred and causes deranged individuals to take violent actions against innocent people. There should be no mistaking the root causes of this near-tragedy. As a Sikh American, I know that no family should have to wonder whether they will be safe at prayer. People of every faith have the right to worship in peace and without fear in America. And to the Hindu and Indian American communities in Aurora and here in New Jersey: we stand with you.

The largest segment of the Loew’s Jersey Theatre marquee was lifted into place overnight. The new signage was designed to replicate the original from when the theatre first opened on September 28, 1929. Another step closer to the restored building opening in November!

This is a serious affront to the people of New Jersey and the rule of law in our state. ICE has been holding people in Roxbury all summer without any public notice or official documentation. The contractor who converted the warehouse was told by MAGA tyrant Stephen Miller to make the warehouse as inhumane as possible. ICE cannot lie to state and federal officials about holding our residents captive with no accountability. I urge state authorities and federal elected officials to take every measure necessary to do oversight, conduct investigations, and free any remaining detainees at Roxbury.
A $129.3M ICE warehouse in Roxbury, N.J., has held people all summer, neighbors told NPR. It has never shown up in ICE's published detention statistics, at least through July. What ICE's own facility data show, and miss: kevinmcnellis.com/posts/ice_… npr.org/2026/10/08/nx-s1-598… @JasGarsd

“When we set high fuel efficiency standards, we cut the carbon emissions that contribute to climate change while saving families money at the pump—proof that protecting the environment and consumers go hand in hand.” Thank you to AG Davenport and the @NewJerseyOAG for taking on Trump and Big Oil to help lower gas prices at the pump while protecting the environment. newjerseyglobe.com/state-gov…

This weekend, communities along the Jersey Shore and around the state saw intense storms and flooding that destroyed homes, businesses, and public infrastructure. Weather events like these are only becoming more frequent and disastrous, and our state needs the climate resiliency infrastructure to fight back. New Jersey can take action to build up our flood resiliency by investing in smart infrastructure like resiliency parks, permeable pavement and flood protection barriers, along with nature based solutions, such as living shorelines, rain gardens and bioswales. Many of these solutions were implemented by my administration in Hoboken to prevent disastrous flooding like we saw during Hurricane Sandy. Our state is at great risk of worsening floods and disasters, especially our communities on the shore. If we don’t act now, the Jersey Shore we know and love may end up underwater. I’ll continue pushing for these investments in Trenton so we can better prepare for the climate disasters ahead.

Enjoyed a site visit to Jewel Electric Supply in Jersey City earlier today! They are a local family owned and operated business that partners with PSE&G’s energy efficiency program to create jobs, support our local economy, and advance energy efficiency in New Jersey.

Recently released polling data shows: 1. 74% of all likely voters support oil & gas companies paying a share of climate costs (like the ones we will be paying for this weekend) including 61% of Republicans voters; 2. Voters overwhelmingly - 78% - support Climate Superfund legislation to share the costs of climate risk; and 3. Most voters would be more likely to vote for a candidate who supports a Climate Superfund bill. The data is clear. Voters overwhelmingly want polluters to pay. Don't buy into the disinformation of the climate denial fraud operation, and the dark money corruption operation that the fossil fuel industry runs to scare away politicians. Let's pass the Make Polluters Pay Act - the time is now. dataforprogress.org/blog/202…

Honored to stand in solidarity before yesterday’s voting session with the advocates for the Make Polluters Pay bill. This is a common sense, environmental justice bill that will lower costs to New Jersey residents from extreme weather. We didn’t cause the problem - so why should we pay for the solution? I hope my Democratic colleagues know that a vast majority of residents support this bill, and aren’t fooled by the misinformation of the fossil fuel companies and their front people. This is not an opinion. This is based on recent poll data I've reviewed, including in swing districts in New Jersey. Ultimately, this is about common sense. It's time for our Democratic caucus to show leadership and do the right thing. Let’s get it done now.

Good news no contaminants made it into the Hackensack River, but this is a wake up call for New Jersey to get tougher on data centers. We need a statewide moratorium to protect people’s wallets and keep our environment clean. Next time might not be so lucky.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection says none of the 5,000 gallons of diesel fuel which spilled from a data center in Secaucus into a nearby Meadowlands creek last week made it into the Hackensack River. The spill was a result of a failure of two valves that are used as part of the filtration process for the fuel, according to the company that has operated the data center since 2001.

Yesterday, I joined Sikh elected officials from across the country to condemn the explicit bigotry and anti-American hatred directed at Sikh Americans by this president. With the 25th anniversary of September 11th upon us, the hearts of the Sikh community and all proud Americans were already heavy with memories of the attacks and the discrimination that followed. This message from the Trump administration was a painful reminder that after all these years, similar prejudices are being spread at the highest level of office. Like all Sikh Americans, I'm proud of my family's immigrant story and the sacrifices they made to come to this country and build a better life for their children. It's the same story told by millions whose ancestors landed on these shores to pursue the American Dream. And like many Americans, my family's immigrant history has inspired me to give back and serve this country. The Sikh faith is grounded in service to others. It's part of the reason why I stepped up to serve my community in Hoboken almost two decades ago. It's why Sikh Americans are one of the fastest growing communities being elected to serve in public office, and it's why this slop broadcasted across social media by the Trump administration is so insulting. Despite this administration's best attempts to demonize and force us out of the country, we aren't going anywhere. Sikh Americans will continue to proudly serve this country by working with our neighbors of all faiths and ethnicities to protect America as a free and welcoming nation for everyone. No amount of hatred will change who we are: members of the Sikh faith and citizens of this great country.

Today, we remember and honor the victims, their families, and survivors of the attacks on September 11th, 2001. Our hearts are especially with the loved ones of the nearly 100 residents of Jersey City and Hoboken who were killed that day. Our neighborhoods and communities are forever linked with 9/11, and a quarter of a century later, we continue to uplift their memory.

Shocking that @DHSgov posted this message reading “America for Americans,” & asking “Mr. Singh” to self-deport. It’s dangerous when we paint entire communities with a hateful brush. In any case, decided to rock the blue bandana on this morning’s run and not going anywhere.
The US Department of Homeland Security just posted this on its official account. It's a racist and hateful message targeting Sikh Americans. And it's going to make all of us less safe.
