🏭 Stelco CEO Lorenzo Goncalves.
1⃣ The layoffs are temporary & will be reversed unlike 🇨🇦 Algoma that permanently laid off 1,000 workers after taking $500M from taxpayers. Goncalves took $0.
2⃣ There is no provision in the contract to keep worker levels the same every day throughout the 5 years. He would never have invested $3.4B if there were.
3⃣ He supports the 232 tariffs as it prevents steel dumping into the 🇺🇸. He stopped this practice once he took over Stelco & strongly implies that practice is still going on in 🇨🇦.
4⃣ He eviscerates Carney & Joly.
🔥"The workers are being played...
🔥The PM saying I've betrayed my employees is not true...
🔥Repeating what Joly is saying without thinking...
🔥Don't pay attention to people playing politics...
🔥This is the last Thanksgiving that you are out of a job."

Mark Carney is the most corrupt prime minister in Canadian history. He announces 2 billion for heat pumps, where it profits him four different ways.
-Stock options in Brookfield
-Stocks owned in Trane Technologies
-Stock owned in Schneider Electric
-Increasing the value of his BGTF1

Why would Carney announce $1.2 billion for ocean conservation when Canadians are starving.... here's why.
RC retweeted
Carney sure is setting aside quite a bit of money now: $1.2 BILLION plus the initial 83 million for his wife as Ocean Envoy to manage.
But don't worry, the gig is unpaid..... interesting how Ghislaine Maxwell had the same sort of project over a decade ago.

A pathetic distraction from businesses being shredded by the trade war. Your plan all along, asset stripper.

The sad truth is that anywhere between one-third and 40% of the country will go along with whatever the Liberals do, no matter how contemptuous it is of our democracy? I struggle to think of any other western democracy that functions this way. But the band plays on...

That’s because PM @MarkJCarney skips Parliament and then skips #cdnmedia as irrelevant. Subsidized 🇨🇦 media doesn’t mind.
Thank you @WSJ for telling Canadians what’s going on.

👖 Canadians are so desperate for a bargain that Lululemon has forayed into the used clothing market.
💰 Their Calgary processing centre is taking a 1,000 orders daily.
📉 Over 75% of 🇨🇦 has bought something pre-owned in the past year.

T’was the night before counter-tariffs, aren’t we in luck?
The US is yawning, they don’t give a f*ck.
The unaffected Canadians scream for more blood.
While the EI offices experience a flood.
Cost of living stories disappear from TV.
And the indexed pension boomers cheer Mark Carney.
On Barton! On Reid! He calls them by name.
On Coyne! On Cochrane! They bray without shame.
Carney fills the stockings of the big union shops.
While all the small businesses get bureaucratic slop.
“Stop with the memes!” is his rallying cry.
“Trump is a bully!” is the Liberal reply.
Before boarding his jet to eat luxury butter.
He puts elbows up & sets their hearts all aflutter.
As he flies off to Europe he cries out with glee.
Happy counter-tariffs to all, now I have to call Xi!

⚠️ Jamieson Greer has been warning Canada for months that globalization clashes with both the spirit of USMCA & the US national security / industrial / trade strategy.
💹 The US wants more trade with us. They want Fortress North America. But not if it means tolerating transshipment & Carney cozying up to China.
⁉️ Carney & the trade team knew this going into the negotiations. The "sovereignty" outrage is fabricated for political gain. Again.

⛔️ David Rosenberg gives Mark Carney a failing grade on productivity growth, business investment & corporate taxation policy.
📉 “Who is doing the outward investment are Canadian companies. Capital is going to be attracted to where it’s doing the best. We are tax uncompetitive. Liberals are not the party that is going to restore Canada’s competitiveness.”

📅 A reminder how the counter-tariff chest-puffing ended last year.
💰 The Liberals collected $3.7 billion off Canadians from the counter-tariffs.
🤕 Apparently, the majority now want more pain.
😡 This is the result when decisions are made out of anger.
🍊 Which is exactly why Trump acts the way he does.

🍁 The trade war is headline news here.
🥱 In the US, 40% of those polled about the tariffs have no opinion or haven't even heard of it.
👀 Perspective is important. The US doesn't believe Carney has any leverage. Who cares? Thx @cbcwatcher

The Liberal propaganda vs the pain small businesses are experiencing under the new s338 tariffs.
"Canada is doing fine." ➡️ layoffs, closures, increased costs.
"We will support businesses." ➡️ small business don't qualify for relief.
"It's the fight we'll win." ➡️ "This could get very ugly, very quickly."
"We cannot accept what they've offered." ➡️ "It's not going to end well for Canada. You're never going get that deal again."
🙏 Businesses literally begging for help.
❔ How much pain must they endure to satisfy the Liberals lust for power? Thx @cbcwatcher

Dr. Ian Lee with another master class on the trade war.
1⃣ Carney erred rejecting the deal for political reasons.
2⃣ If Carney doesn’t get back to the table within a few months, Canada will experience a deep recession & perhaps a depression.
3⃣ Retaliatory tariffs are dumb & hurt Canadians. Lee is convinced that Doug Ford doesn’t understand this.
4⃣ Those that are cheering on “standing up to Trump” don’t understand the price that will be paid without a deal. Lee likens our fate to that of Argentina.
5⃣ Interprovincial trade barriers cause more harm than tariffs. “More Trumpian than Trump.” Lee believes Carney should threaten to withhold equalization payments to force the premiers to remove them.
6⃣ The on-going trade war & the interprovincial trade barriers are an “economic suicide pact.” Carney must solve both within the next few months. Credit: @AllanSmallGTA

This is the REALITY of what 1000's of Canadian small businesses are facing.
The “Best Adirondack Chair Company” of Kemptville, ON has no choice but to open up a plant in the US due to the new s338 50% tariffs.
They were approached by Select USA, a Department of Commerce organization who facilitate business investment in the US.
They asked if other Canadian businesses had come knocking on Select’s door. “You have no idea (how many).”
Support from the Canadian government? “None, it’s tailored for big companies.”
KPMG report – 42% of Canadian businesses are planning to move to the US.
This all could have been over 2 weeks ago but the Liberals put political power over country.
