Starter Kata are like stabilisers to help us develop scientific thinking but they're not the final objective! We're aiming to develop a culture of continuous improvement where scientific thinking is a habitual mindset for tackling complex challenges #NHSkata #IntelligentFailure
If you are interested in improvement events / kaizen workshops, I invite you to check out this short article about how some organizations are adding deliberate practice of scientific thinking to their events, and why they do that. 👇

Dear Twitter/X followers, colleagues, friends:
I apologize for not sharing much lately. For various reasons the conversation has moved to LinkedIn where I now have an account. There's a lot going on and I invite you to follow or connect with me there.

Nice when a consultant's website is more than advertisement and provides useful value in itself. Says something about the consultant & how they work. Gemma Jones & SPARK Improvement nail it. Worth exploring her website as you'll get something out of it.

Beth Carrington, LEI, Articulate have raised the bar on what a free webinar can be. Self-paced, bite-size information, multi-media. I like it a lot!
Enjoy this way of getting information about Toyota Kata & scientific thinking and share it with others👇

Why practice scientific thinking with your team?
Because the consensus on what's ahead is that there is no consensus.
Came across this short video on the topic of Scientific Thinking. Definitely worth 8 minutes of your time. :-)

In this 2-minute video edit Dr. William Harvey (@docwjh19) encourages you to coach scientific thinking more frequently; in everyday conversations and meetings, rather than only in front of a Toyota Kata storyboard.

Work culture often prioritizes answers over questions. That's a dead end. Practice scientific thinking and utilize it to keep moving.
Don't accept jumping to conclusions! Practicing Toyota Kata in your team is a way of developing some 'social circuitry' in your organization for thinking, working, reacting, and interacting more scientifically ... together.
Why **practice** scientific thinking, rather than only reading and talking about it?
Our underlying assumptions are highly resistant to change, but *practicing* ST has the power to confront and modify them. Embrace reality ... every day a school day.
Heck, enjoy reality! ;-)
Finally .. a book that presents Lean in a way that is applicable in public policy, taking Lean to a more generally-applicable level.
This might be a good book for anyone in the Lean community to read. The different application sector helps you get more the essence of Lean.
Toyota Kata practitioners are about 'management' that uses cognitive processes to develop & channel problem-solving skill/habits. With all the challenges we face, the ability to mobilize human ingenuity at the team & organization level could be a key factor in the world of work.

You're on the Lean team at your company. What can practicing Toyota Kata do for you?
Lean is struggling. TK elevates Lean to a more general, and more generally-applicable level, beyond removing waste from manufacturing processes.
It's a way forward!
Nice post on LinkedIn today by Prof. Jeff Liker, about Toyota Kata. Boy does he get it. Here's a four-part thread of the text he posted...
