This year, I'm creating a Halloween advent calendar!
👻WOooOOooo!!!👻
Each day of this month, I'll post a track from a favourite spooky-related record in my demonic possession.
1st OCTOBER
The Dunwich Horror O.S.T. (1970)

I see the Oxford St pedestrianisation debate is rumbling on. I have a solution!
Yes, pedestrianise the road, but allow traffic to use the pavements instead. They are wide enough. You could have a multiple footbridge system to access the shops. Or maybe jetpacks?
Job's a good'un!

Witchcraft Magic, An Adventure In Demonlogy (1969)
Your week's study notes for next Saturday.

I saw this advert at London Victoria on Friday. I know RG is simply flogging his endorsed vodka using his own brand of cynical humour, but I feel as if we're slipping ever more into this self fulfilling dystopia, like we're all literally living in a 1980s sci-fi movie satire now.

Box Theme - Coil (1987)
I bought this 10" on release because of the Hellraiser connection. I'd never heard of Coil but soon became a fan. They really opened up my musical tastes.
The creepiest track in my countdown?

I found these Parma Violets at my folks today. Didn't realise they were still a thing, as I haven't eaten any since... Ooo, 1978? I remember thinking they were rank. Certainly, no Refreshers. I'll now give them another chance.
Nope, they still taste like lavender bath crystals.

Outside The Old Abode by Ron Geesin from Ghost Story (1974) TRUNK re-issue 2025
Spooky British movie that featured Vivian MacKerrell, the direct inspiration for Withnail.
Oh, and also stars the late Penny Keith.

Picture an alternate music chart universe where film & pop stars hadn't changed their names
Béla Blaskó's Dead - Bauhaus 1919
Leonard Slye - Reg Dwight
Maurice Micklewhite - Morris & The Minors
Marion Morrison is Big Leggy - Healy & Garner
Ian De Jenkins Waiting - Spud-U-Like

Shadows Of Fear - Roger Webb (1970) Trunk 7" re-issue 2021
Sorry for late admission today. I think this is a contender for my favourite TV opening titles ever.

Found this top Radio Times cover today.
The Goodies went above the call of duty for their comedy. Always hitting each other, throwing themselves about, having heavy props dropped on them. By the expressions on their faces here, this photo opportunity may have been a step too far?

The Mummy - Bob McFadden & Dor (1959)
U.S voice actor, Bob McFadden is all over this LP introducing each track, so just for a change I'm going to link a tune that isn't on the album pictured.
Why? Coz I love it.

I just read an article about a 'doomsday prepper' on BBC site. This bloke even has a YouTube channel telling people what to do in the event
If I had an energy sufficient bunker with all this food, water & bog roll, I certainly wouldn't advertise it to the world.
Or use this pen.

Black Movement - Eric Peters (1974) off the library album Dramatic & Horror Vol 2
This sounds like a theme tune to a 1970s gritty ITV documentary series that is your signal to go to bed as it's school the next day.

Looking at this 2027 calendar makes me feel old and slightly confused. Probably how my father felt in 1982 when he saw my Marilyn Monroe calendar pinned on the bedroom wall.

19th OCT
Voodoo Session - Tubby Hayes (1964) 7"
Taken from Dr. Terror's House Of Horrors (1965) which should've been titled 'Dr. Terror's Rail Carriage Of Largely Middling Tales Of Horror Apart From The Christopher Lee One."

18th OCT
Creepy Crawly - Stan Medcalf (1970)
One of my favourite library albums.
Track title reminds me of seeing The Stranglers at a local leisure centre. Hugh Cornwell opened the gig with "Good evening, creepy Crawley!"
youtube.com/watch?v=4b2nQMWH…
Yesterday, I saw this new fizzy pop advertised on posters and wanted to see if the slogan was correct. It's true, I could taste Silk Cut, Malibu and a hint of a Wendy cheese burger. We are already looking at engagement rings.
Eli Hourd AKA Kid Tempo R.I.P.

City Of The Living Dead OST - Fabio Frizzi (1980)
Astonishingly, this LP was a genuine, rarest of rare chazza shop finds. Cheap too! I nearly fainted on the premises.
Sleeve art by the godlike Graham Humphreys. youtube.com/watch?v=sBkeGfVK…
Caught up with Dave Robinson again tonight.
"If it ain't Stiff , it ain't worth a f**k."
