Yesterday, 28 July 2026, I had the distinct honour of taking the oath of office as the 39th Students’ Union Vice President (Main Campus), University of Ilorin.
I do not consider this office merely a title to bear. To me, it is a sacred trust, one that demands integrity, humility, wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to the students I have been elected to serve.
As this new chapter begins, I recognise that meaningful progress is never the achievement of one individual. It is the product of shared purpose, constructive engagement, and collective responsibility. I therefore extend a sincere hand of partnership to every Unilorite, student leaders across all levels, stakeholders, and members of the University at large. Regardless of our backgrounds, perspectives, or previous affiliations, I believe we can achieve far more when we unite.
As the Vice President, I do not presume to have all the answers, but I make this promise: every decision, every effort, and every opportunity entrusted to this office will be guided by the desire to leave behind a lasting legacy.
Above all, I pray that, at the end of this journey, your trust in me will never have been in vain.
With gratitude, humility, and an unwavering commitment to service, the work begins.
Adeyemo Fathia Itunu (AFI)
39th Students’ Union Vice President (Main Campus) University of Ilorin.

When did finding a hostel become almost as expensive as paying for the hostel itself?
For students living off campus, the rent is already a major expense. Then come agency fees, agreement fees, caution fees and other charges that can significantly increase the actual cost of securing a room.
And sometimes, the student is left wondering: what exactly are we paying for?
I think the conversation around off-campus accommodation needs to go beyond “hostel prices are expensive.”
How much are students actually paying in agent fees, and are these charges reasonable?
I’m interested in hearing from Unilorites who have had to secure off-campus accommodation recently.

A clean environment is not created by a single cleanup exercise; it is sustained by a culture of consciousness.
As we commemorate World Cleanup Day, CLEAN CAMPUS: HEALTHY FUTURE is more than a conversation about picking up waste. It is a reminder that the environment we live, learn and work in is a reflection of the choices we make every day.
Today should not be the end of our efforts. It should be the beginning of a deeper consciousness; one that makes us think twice before littering, take responsibility for our surroundings, and understand that sustainability is not a one-day responsibility.
A cleaner campus is a collective responsibility. A healthier future begins with what we do today.
Let’s make cleanliness a culture, not just a commemoration. 🌍✨

A year later, I find myself here, looking back at the words I wrote at the beginning of this journey, and I cannot help but feel a deep sense of gratitude.
I came into the office of the Public Relations Officer 1 with one clear intention: to serve. To communicate, to represent, to amplify the voices of NUESAlites, and to give the office everything I could.
The journey, however, was not without its challenges. The 42nd Administration came with its fair share of obstacles, some of which could easily have become reasons to falter. But God came through. Through every difficult moment, He gave me the strength and grace to keep going, and none of the challenges was allowed to hinder me from discharging the responsibility entrusted to me.
I served NUESAlites with due diligence. I communicated. I listened. I represented. I amplified. I showed up. And wherever the office demanded my presence, I did my best to be there.
Today, as I officially hand over to my successor, alongside the inauguration of the 43rd CEC members, I am filled with fulfilment. There is something deeply rewarding about looking back at a journey and knowing that, despite everything, you served.
To my successor, the new Public Relations Officer 1: the baton is now yours. I am confident that you will carry the office with diligence, responsibility and purpose. May you serve NUESAlites dutifully, communicate their voices boldly, and leave the office even better than you found it.
To the 42nd Central Executive Council, thank you for the journey, the lessons and the memories.
And to @NUESAUPDATE, thank you for the opportunity to serve.
A year ago, I began this journey with God before and after me. Today, I close this chapter with that same God, only now with a heart full of gratitude for how far He has brought me.
The baton has been passed.
And unto zenith from here.
Non sibi sed omnibus!
On the 30th of July 2025, I stood tall, sworn in as NUESA’s @NUESAUPDATE 42nd Public Relations Officer 1, under the Luminary Nexus administration. With God before and after me, my heart’s set on serving and amplifying our collective voices.
One thing that fascinates me about the award is its captivating beauty; it is well constructed without compromising its significance.
Good job!👍
As one of my approved contributions during the NEW DAWN Administration, I present to you once again, THE MEGATUSH AWARD! 🏆

Dear Governor @seyimakinde, history has produced a remarkable young man from Ogbomoso, and Oyo State must not allow his brilliance to go unnoticed.
Meet Francis Olusegun, an Ogbomoso-born Mathematics graduate of the University of Ilorin who has just achieved an extraordinary perfect CGPA of 5.0/5.0, an academic feat being celebrated as unprecedented in the institution’s history.
Francis emerged from a humble background, yet through sheer intelligence, discipline and determination, he has risen to the very top. His exceptional intellect has drawn comparisons to some of history’s greatest scientific minds, including Albert Einstein.
Your Excellency, this is bigger than one young man. This is about discovering and investing in the intellectual future of Oyo State and Nigeria.
I passionately appeal to you to identify, support, mentor and empower Francis, helping provide him with the opportunities, exposure and platform required to pursue his dreams and compete at the highest global level.
Imagine what Francis could achieve with the right support. Imagine the global impact of an Ogbomoso-born scholar whose journey from humble beginnings becomes a story of excellence, innovation and national pride.
Mr. Governor, please don't let this exceptional talent pass unnoticed. Help position Francis Olusegun for GLOBAL EXCELLENCE.
Oyo State has produced a brilliant mind. Let us give that mind the opportunity to change the world.
Ire o!

Oluwasegun Francis @francis_themath just made history at the University of Ilorin.
The Senate of the University has announced him as the Overall Best Graduating Student of the 2025/2026 graduating class, with a perfect 5.0 CGPA, the first ever recorded in the history of the University.
As his course mate in the Department of Mathematics, I know this achievement came with a lot of sacrifice.
I have seen Francis struggle. I have seen the pressure, the difficult moments and the times when things were not easy for him. Yet, somehow, he kept showing up, kept learning and kept pushing.
That is what makes this achievement even more special.
Anytime you see Francis, you remember Michael Scofield. The intelligence. The calmness. The way he thinks. That ability to look at a difficult problem and keep searching until he finds a way through it.
But I don't want us to just celebrate Francis today and move on.
Francis has big dreams, and I believe he deserves the support to pursue them.
To individuals, companies, organisations, philanthropists and everyone who believes in young Nigerians with exceptional potential, please support this young man. Give him opportunities. Connect him with the right people. Help him access the resources and platforms he needs to go further.
I genuinely believe we will hear the name Oluwasegun Francis far beyond the walls of UNILORIN.
Nigeria will be proud of him.
And I believe the world will know his name too.
Francis is just getting started. 🇳🇬

Some work happens in public, some happens behind closed doors.
Either way, we’re working.👍
P.S. Asides the busy work, I had my little enjoyment too. After all, a happy VP is a productive VP. 😂
Darlingggg! What has August looked like from your end?
Did you travel? Stay home? Try new food? Cook something nice? Explore somewhere new? Attend events? Or simply take cute pictures and enjoy your little moments?
Tell me what August has looked like through your compilation of moments; pictures or videos.
