New fiction at @RedBridgePress Rivet Journal... This is my attempt at "horror" fiction. It's not very scary... or is it??? Nah. But do check it out, along with the other pieces in this issue rivetjournal.com/larrys-left…

Posted this in the shared kitchen of my new home office, but my coworkers don't seem to be taking it seriously. #QuarantineLifeProblems

I can certainly echo this sentiment. Our guidelines specifically request work from diverse, underrepresented voices, and our queue is still skewed in one direction. You have to solicit and invite and remind everyone what you're looking for and what you value.

Thanks, you magnificent weirdos, you possessors of questionable senses of humor, you fucking poets; you magical-voiced tough bitches & activist warriors, garbage dwellers and feral wolf- children, you spoon-stealers and horse-poets, you chaotic whatevers & air guitar shredders.

Write beautifully. Write angrily. Write relentlessly. Write passionately. Write unapologetically. Write honestly. Write consistently. Write violently. Write soulfully. Write stylishly. Write thoughtfully. Just write.

As a lit mag editor, I can confirm we get WAY more subs from cis white men than anyone else, & even after getting rejected, they submit again. We routinely invite POC, women, and non-cis people to submit--& submit again if it was a near miss--but they dont. Please go for it!

NPR Tiny Desk Concerts but instead of musicians you get writers who know how to perform reading their work. Let's make it happen.

Read shit that makes you uncomfortable. Read books so far out of your comfort zone that they make you rediscover reading. Explore narratives written by folks who have nothing in common with you. Literature is a superb way of understanding the world a little more.

Me and the kid enjoyed Captain Marvel a hell of a lot. Those dudes who tried to sink the movie are definitely just some salty ass Kree.
