9/11 DID NOT END ON 9/11. Yes, nearly 3,000 lives were taken that day. But in the 25 years since, thousands more have died from illnesses connected to the attacks, and more than 7,000 U.S. military members lost their lives in the wars that followed. We remember those we lost.
Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. Suicide does not affect one person or one family. Its impact reaches friends, neighbors, coworkers, classmates,, and entire communities.
To every family who has lost someone to suicide, we see you. We remember them. We stand with you.
Nearly 500 first responders die by suicide each year. For every life lost, an estimated 135 people are impacted. Nearly 67K family members, friends, coworkers and community members feel the impact every year.

Every veteran suicide reaches far beyond one life. An estimated 44 veterans die by suicide every day and approximately 16,000 each year. With an average of 135 people impacted by every suicide, more than 2.1 million people are affected each year by veteran suicide alone.
Today marks the start of Suicide Awareness Month. This month, we remember the lives lost, stand by those forever changed, & remind those who are struggling, they are not alone. Awareness matters. Connection matters.
